This is a village with a history of 800 years, which is a relatively well-preserved Hakka ancient residential complex of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in China, comparable to the Yongding Tulou and the Meizhou Weilongya, and is a classic work of Hakka architectural culture. The ancient residential complex of Peitian Village consists of six school halls, two academies, three nunneries, two temples, two monuments and other ancient cultural and religious buildings, as well as 20 ancient ancestral temples, more than 30 residential buildings, and a 1,000-meter ancient street, five alleys, and two canals that run through the village. The building materials used are wood and brick. The overall layout of Peitian's Ming and Qing residential complexes is of a considerable standard, with the village's architectural needs such as ancestral halls, houses, temples, monuments, streets, waterways, bridges, and so on, well considered, well configured, and spectacularly harmonious. In terms of various buildings, their architectural function, appearance and structure, decorative colors, are all superior.
Peitian Village has a history of more than 800 years, and the famous Guanzhi Mountain, Penjia Mountain, and the remaining veins of Wuyi Mountain fall straight down from the north to the south of the village, as if embraced by the three dragons, and the five hills outside of the village look like five tigers, with a pleasant landscape. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Peitian Village was on the post of the official road between Changting and Liancheng counties, and was a transit point for bamboo, wood, paper and daily commodities such as salt and oil from Tingzhou and Longyan.
The center of the village is a 1,000-meter-long ancient street that runs through the whole village and is lined with ancient ancestral halls, residential houses and stores, which is the main commercial bazaar of Peitian. Legend has it that in its heyday, there were dozens of stores on the street, including guest branches, sedan chair lines, gambling houses, cloth stores and so on. Twisting ancient streets, alleys, interconnected, the scattered Ming and Qing dynasty ancient buildings organically linked together, although artificial, as if heavenly. Street side of the canal accompanied, through the street, through the alley, straight to each household, is the ancient tap water project. The village old man recalled that in the past, the canal water was crystal clear, the village people rely on the flow of the canal water next to the house as a living water, washing vegetables and washing rice. In the village, there is also a pond and an old well, which can be found in front of and behind the houses. The founders of the village hundreds of years ago paid great attention to the village's water management. Each ancient building is equipped with a dark ditch to drain rainwater and sewage from the patio of each house. The patio will be the roof of the residence under the rainwater convergence of a ditch and out of the flow of stone masonry pool, to meet the four water back to the hall, the source of wealth rolled to the gathering of wealth mentality. Drainage paths should be hidden, should not be exposed; should be curved and go, should not be straight out of the diarrhea, because the water is the mother of the gas, the reverse is not scattered poly; water and belongs to the wealth, the curve is to stay and not go. Some homes are also in the hall under the ceramic dark water pipe, rearing turtles crawling in the pipe, play a role in sewage clearing the ditch, ingenious. If the street is the bone marrow of the village, the water is the blood of the village. Spiritual water gives the village water-like spirit.
