The child is 6 years old, adenoid hypertrophy, conservative treatment is good or surgery is good

Under normal physiological conditions, adenoids develop to their maximum size when a child is six to seven years old, gradually shrink after puberty, and basically disappear in adults. If the adenoids are enlarged and hypertrophied, and cause corresponding symptoms, it is called adenoid hypertrophy or adenoid proliferation. It occurs most often in children between the ages of three and five, and is rare in adults.

The most common cause of adenoid hypertrophy is pathologic growth of the adenoids due to repeated inflammatory stimulation of the nasopharynx and adjacent areas, or of the adenoids themselves.

General treatment pay attention to nutrition, prevent colds and improve the body's immunity. The adenoids will gradually shrink with age, and the condition may be relieved or the symptoms may disappear completely. Surgical treatment, if conservative treatment is ineffective, adenoidectomy should be performed as early as possible. Careful examination should be made before surgery to exclude contraindications. Surgery is often performed together with tonsillectomy. If there is no obvious indication for tonsil surgery, the adenoids can be removed alone.
