1, shadow play

Shadow play is an ancient traditional Chinese folk art, and is also one of the world-class intangible cultural heritage. Old Beijingers called it "donkey shadow". Formerly known as "Shadow Play" or "Lamp Shadow Play", it is a kind of folk theater that uses light sources such as candles or burning alcohol to irradiate the silhouettes of characters made of animal skins or cardboards in order to perform stories. During the performance, the artists manipulate the characters behind a white curtain while singing the story in local popular tunes, accompanied by percussion instruments and stringed music, with a strong local flavor.

Chinese paper-cutting is a kind of pattern cutting on paper with scissors or carving knives, which is also one of the world's intangible cultural heritages. It is a folk art used to decorate life or to complement other folk activities. In China, paper-cutting has a broad mass base, intermingled with the social life of people of all ethnic groups, is an important part of various folk activities. Its inherited visual images and modeling formats contain rich cultural and historical information, and express the social cognition, moral concepts, practical experience, ideals of life and aesthetic interests of the general public.

3. Guqin

Guqin is the oldest and purest traditional musical instrument, and one of the world's intangible cultural heritages. With a long history of more than 3,000 years, the guqin music is an important part of Chinese music and a representative of Chinese traditional music culture. In ancient times, it was called the qin, but it was also known as the silk tung and the yaoqin. Although the legend of "Fuxi made the qin", "Shennong made the qin" and "Shun made the five-stringed qin" is not credible, its history is really quite long.
