Conrad Hotels
The world's 18 award-winning, ultra-luxury Conrad hotels are located in capitals and exotic vacation destinations throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific and the Middle East/Africa. Conrad creates value for both business and leisure travelers by establishing and maintaining the highest level of service, in line with the renowned "Conrad Culture of Service". With beautifully appointed guest rooms, elegant restaurants, well-equipped health clubs and upscale meeting facilities, Conrad has plans to open five additional hotels between 2005 and 2007 in the United States, Thailand, Japan and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai). In 1907, on the Christmas Day of the Great American Panic, a 20-year-old kid named Conrad Hilton opened a family-run hotel in a grocery-strewn adobe in the town of San Antonio, New Mexico, to make ends meet and celebrate his birthday, and told his mother, "I'm going to raise a million dollars and build a new hotel named after me. a new hotel named after me." And pointing to a list of places in the newspaper, he said, "I'm going to build hotels in all these places and open one a year."
In 1928, also Christmas Day, 21 years after the time, on Conrad Hilton's 41st birthday, all of these dreams were realized, one by one, and much faster than expected. The Hilton Hotel, the hotel that bears his name, was built in Dallas at Abilene, Waco, Marin, Plainview, San Angelo and La Berque.
In 1949, Hilton International was spun off from the Hilton Hotel Corporation and became an independent subsidiary.

In the 20 years between 1967 and 1987, Hilton International was bought three times, finally by the Hilton Group, formerly known as the Ladbrok Group.

In July, the U.S. magazine HOTELS released its 2004 statistics, which put Hilton Group (USA) in 11th place in 2004 with 2,259 hotels and 358,408 rooms; in 2003 it was in 10th place with 2,173 hotels and 348,483 rooms.
Under the inter-corporate agreement, Hilton International and Hilton Hotels Corp.(HLT) share operating rights to the Conrad brand, which includes 17 hotels in 13 countries. Hilton International, which owns the rights to use the Hilton brand name worldwide except in the U.S., operates 403 hotels under the Hilton, Scandic and Conrad brands, 261 of which are branded as Hilton and 142 under the Scandic brand, which is aimed at the mid-market. Hilton Worldwide is known for its cautious approach to global growth.
Hilton Group, the hotel and gaming company, announced on Dec. 29 the sale of its hotel business for 3.6 billion pounds ($6.2 billion) to the U.S.-based Hilton Hotels Corporation, in a deal that will bring the two Hilton companies back together after their 1964 split. Hilton Hotels Corporation concentrates on its U.S. business, while Hilton Group focuses primarily on other international markets. Hilton Hotels (HLT) plans to open an additional 175 to 200 hotels in North America and 15 to 20 hotels overseas in 2006.

Hilton has less brand recognition in other countries than stateside, but is a top choice in the eyes of international travelers, who are familiar with the room setup divided into office, relaxation and washroom areas. Travelers who stay with Hilton earn points on flights with more than 50 airlines. Hilton Hotels International receives hundreds of thousands of travelers from all over the world every day, and with annual profits in the hundreds of millions of dollars, tops the list of the world's largest hotels. With the exception of Antarctica, Hilton has a global presence.
