Which province in China has not seen SARS?

There are seven provincial units in Chinese mainland that have not reported SARS cases. They are Heilongjiang, Hainan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Qinghai, Tibet and Xinjiang.

The SARS incident began in Shunde, China in 2002. It spread to Southeast Asia and even the whole world, and it was not until mid-2003 that the epidemic was gradually eliminated. During this period, a series of events occurred: causing social panic, many patients including medical staff died, the treatment of the disease in various countries around the world, the naming of the disease, the discovery and naming of pathogenic microorganisms, and the attention of the United Nations, the World Health Organization and the media.

At the peak of SARS, party and government organs at all levels in China showed amazing mobilization and went deep into rural grassroots communities. At this time, the traditional social forces based on the village played a role: people from all other villages were not allowed to enter the village, and those who came back from work outside the village were also blocked from the village until the observation period expired.

During the SARS period, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Hu Jintao, president visited the rural areas of Sichuan to inspect the implementation of epidemic prevention, because the central authorities were most worried that migrant workers from Sichuan and other mainland provinces who worked in Guangdong would return home to spread the epidemic. Because of effective preventive measures, the epidemic situation in Sichuan is not as serious as that in Guangdong and Beijing, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia in the north.
