It is worth mentioning that distribution network is the key link to realize smart grid, and the development level of distribution automation in China is very backward. At present, the coverage rate of distribution automation in China is still only about 30%, far lower than 90% and 100% in France and Japan. The average coverage rate of distribution automation in developed countries is about 70% to 80%. With the increasing installed scale of new energy, the development of distributed energy, the growth of electric vehicles and the need to deepen the reform of power system, the construction of domestic distribution network has great development potential.

In addition, according to the Action Plan for the Construction and Transformation of Distribution Network (20 15-2020) issued by China, it is clear that distribution network automation is very important to improve the reliability of power supply and is one of the keys to the development of power automation in the future. At the same time, the "Planning" clearly stated that the coverage rate of distribution automation in China should reach 90% in 2020; At the same time, according to the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", the goal of fully realizing 90% distribution automation coverage in 2020 is also mentioned, in which the distribution automation coverage of provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in the eastern region is not less than 95%, and the distribution automation coverage of provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in the central and western regions is not less than 90%. But up to now, the coverage rate of completed distribution automation projects is far from the target of 2020, and there is still a lot of room for improvement in the future, which will be the focus of power automation development.
