How many oil fields are there in America?
The United States currently consumes more than 20 million barrels of oil every day, and most of the oil fields are located in four states: Texas (25%), Alaska (24%), California (2 1%) and Louisiana (14%). Prudhoe Bay Oilfield in Alaska is the largest oilfield in the United States and even North America, and the other big oilfield is the North Slope Oilfield. The output of the Gulf of Mexico oil field accounts for about 25% of the national oil production. Another major offshore oil field is located at the bottom of Beaufort Sea on the continental shelf of the Arctic Ocean, with 22.5 billion barrels of oil and 92 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
Under the premise of government supervision, the American oil industry adopts a completely market-oriented approach and treats foreign companies equally according to national treatment. But in fact, in the United States, except for BP, the major oil resources are controlled by domestic oil companies, including ExxonMobil, Chevron Texaco, ConocoPhillips and Philips. ▲
