What is the accompaniment instrument of Yueju Opera

The main accompanying instrument of Yueju Opera is the Yuehu. When Yueju Opera emerged, it was accompanied by Nanhu (Erhu) at the beginning. At the beginning of the 1940s, various kinds of Yuehu appeared. After that, Gu Bingwen and the luthier Li Ziyu successfully improved the Yuehu, which soon became the main accompaniment of Yueju opera.

Similarly, Huangmei opera used to be accompanied by the erhu and even the jinghu, but gradually changed to the gaohu, which is now commonly accompanied by the specialized Huangmei opera gaohu.

But our traditional Chinese opera accompaniment, regardless of the type of opera, basically can not be separated from the huqin accompaniment, Beijing Hu (Peking Opera), Yuehu (Yueju Opera), Banhu (Yu Opera), Yuehu (Cantonese Opera), Shenhu (Shanghai Opera), Huangmei Opera gaohu, and so on, in the final analysis, all the huqin family.
