The era in which Bian Magpie lived was a time of rapid development of productive forces and intense social change and upheaval, as well as a time of mobility and talent, and the competition mechanism of various countries formed a social culture of respecting talents and recruiting the best. In order to strengthen their power, all countries were recruiting useful talents. The state of Qin was located in the western part of the country, and was treated by the lords of the central plains as a barbaric zhai. In order to change this situation, several of Qin's predecessors attached great importance to recruiting talents from the eastern countries. In order to recruit talents, Qin adopted the method of accepting and taking, creating a place for all kinds of talents to show their abilities. In addition to emphasizing the talents of the state, Qin also respected the doctors. Zhuangzi. Lianyukou" reads, "The king of Qin had a disease, recruited doctors, and those who broke the cost of routing acne were given a car to ride, and what was cured was cured, but what was gained was more and more." He put his accumulated medical experience to use for the common people and traveled around the world, practicing medicine and relieving people's pain. Bian Magpie is the originator of traditional Chinese medicine and the founder of the theory of Chinese medicine. Because Bian Magpie traveled all over the world, he visited many places. There is some controversy about the origin of Bian Magpie. Some ancient books record that Bian Magpie met Duke Cai Huan and wrote about Bohai Mo Ren (modern Renqiu, Hebei). Tang Dynasty Zhang Shoujie's Justice of the Historical Records quotes the Yellow Emperor's 81 Difficulties as saying, "(Qin Yue people) home in Lu Guo, because of the name of the Lu doctor also." Lu Guo, in present-day Changqing, Shandong Province. "Bohai County" is in the south-central and northwestern part of present-day Shandong Province. Bian Magpie Worshipped

Bian Magpie was the head of a hostel in his hometown when he was a teenager. At that time, there was a long-staying traveler in his hostel, Changsangjun, and the two of them had a very close and cordial relationship. After a long relationship, Chang Sang Jun finally said to Bian Magpie, "I have some secret recipes, now I am old, I want to pass these medical skills and secret recipes to you, you have to keep it a secret, do not spread it out." Bian Magpie immediately worshipped Chang Sang Jun as his teacher, and inherited his medical skills, finally becoming a generation of famous doctors, the outstanding representative of the pre-Qin period medical practitioners. After becoming famous, Bian Magpie traveled all over the world to cure people. According to Sima Qian's records, Bian Magpie could see through people's internal organs directly, just like the current perspective, as for looking and sniffing are hidden from view. Many anti-Jinan magpie statue of Chinese medicine people use this to attack Chinese medicine. Nie Wentao believes that from the Chinese medicine literature does not magpie perspective eye records. This means that is the book recorded belongs to the cultural content outside of medicine. Like Newton's apple falling to the ground, it would have been unfounded and illogical, yet it would have been circulated. The legend of culture necessarily covers everything, including the process of scientific development in ancient and contemporary times, and cannot be used as a basis for judging science. This legend can only reflect the status of Dr. Bian Magpie in people's mind. Bian Magpie possessed great medical skill. His medical deeds and medical achievements can reflect the level of medicine and the characteristics of medicine in the pre-Qin period. A number of pre-Qin writings contain the deeds of Bian Magpie, "The Records of the Grand Historian - Biography of Bian Magpie": Yin Chang Gong, No. Qiu Xuan. He wanted to find his disciple and master his art, and he went to Han. In Han, there was a son of Jiang named Shu, who was famous for his wisdom. Bian magpie was killed

Qin Wu Wang and the warriors lifting tripod competition, do not realize that the injury to the waist, the pain is unbearable, ate too much medicine Li minced meat (sound of the sea) of the medicine, but also do not see any improvement, and more serious. Someone told King Wu that the magpie had come to Qin, and King Wu ordered the magpie to enter the palace. Bian Magpie looked at King Wu's demeanor, pressed his pulse, and pushed and held his waist a few times, and then asked King Wu to move around a few times by himself, and King Wu immediately felt much better. Then he gave the king a squeeze of medicine, and the symptoms of his illness disappeared completely. King Wu was so happy that he wanted to appoint Bian Magpie as the Imperial Doctor. When Li Mincing learned of this, he was worried that Bian Magpie would surpass him in the future, so he tried his best to obstruct him in front of King Wu, claiming that Bian Magpie was just a "reckless traveling doctor", which was half-believed by King Wu, but he didn't give up the idea of reusing Bian Magpie. Minced meat Li decided to get rid of Bian Magpie and sent two assassins to assassinate Bian Magpie, but Bian Magpie's disciples realized it and escaped from death for the time being. Bian Magpie had no choice but to leave Qin, and they traveled along the path north of Mount Li. Li Mincing sent his assassins to disguise themselves as hunters and robbed and killed Bian Magpie halfway. According to legend, Bian Magpie was born on April 28th, and people built the "Medicine King Temple" in his hometown, dedicated to him. Every year on April 28th, a grand ceremony is held to commemorate the birth of the magpie. At the same time, also pray for his blessing people free of disease and pain, prolong life.

[Edit Paragraph]Story Legend

Bian Magpie traveled all over the world and was famous for his skill in treating the sick for the king and his vassals, as well as removing the diseases for the people. He was very comprehensive in his skills and knew everything. In Handan, he heard that women were respected in the area, so he became a doctor under the belt (gynecologist). In Luoyang, he became a doctor specializing in geriatrics because of the respect for the elderly there. The people of Qin loved children the most, so he became a pediatrician there, and no matter where he was, his reputation was great. According to the canonical record, King Wen of Wei once sought the advice of the famous doctor Bian Magpie[1]: "The three brothers in your family are all skillful in healing, who is the best in healing?" Bian Magpie: "The eldest brother is the best, the second brother is worse, I am the worst of the three." The King of Wei was puzzled and said, "Please describe in more detail." Bian Magpie explained, "My elder brother healed the patient before the onset of the disease, at that time the patient himself did not feel sick, but my elder brother then gave medicine to eradicate the root cause of the disease, making it difficult for his healing skills to be recognized, so he had no fame, but was only held in high esteem in our family. My second brother cured the disease, is at the beginning of the disease, the symptoms are not yet very obvious, the patient did not feel the pain, the second brother will be able to medicine to the disease, so that the townspeople think that the second brother is only treating a small disease is very smart. I cure the disease, are in a very serious condition, the patient is in great pain, the patient's family is anxious. At this time, they saw me puncturing on the meridians, bleeding with needles, or applying poisons to the affected area to fight poisons with poisons, or performing major surgeries to point directly at the foci of the disease, so that the condition of the seriously ill person was relieved or cured very quickly, which is why I am famous all over the world." The King of Wei came to a great realization. Control after the fact is not as good as control during the event, control during the event is not as good as control before the event, unfortunately, most of the business operators have failed to appreciate this point, wait until the wrong decision caused major losses before seeking to make amends. If they make up for it well, of course, they will be famous, but more often than not, it is too late to mend. King Wu of Qin was sick and summoned the world-famous magpie to cure him. One day, Li Yi, the imperial physician, and a group of civil and military ministers rushed out to dissuade him, saying that the king's illness was before the ears and below the eyes, so the magpie might not be able to remove it. If anything goes wrong, the ear will be deaf and the eye will be blind. Bian Magpie was so angry that he slammed the stone he used to cure the disease, and said to King Wu of Qin, "The king discussed with me to get rid of the disease, but allowed a group of fools to mess up the disease; if you rule the country like this, you will lose the country in one move!" King Wu of Qin heard this and had to let Bian Magpie cure him. As a result, the illnesses that could not be cured by Li Yi, the imperial physician, were cured in the hands of Bian Magpie. In this contest of skill, Bian Magpie completely defeated Li Ya. Knowing that Li Yi was not as good as Bian Magpie, Li Yi was jealous and killed Bian Magpie. One day, Zhao Jianzi, a great minister of Jin, fell ill. He was unconscious for five days and five nights, and everyone was very afraid. After Bian Magpie saw him, he said that his blood was normal, there was nothing to be afraid of, and he would wake up in less than three days. After two and a half days, he did wake up. Once when Bian Magpie was passing through Guo Guo, he saw the people there performing the ritual of praying for blessings and eliminating calamities, so he asked who was sick, and the magician in the palace said that the crown prince had been dead for half a day. Bian magpie asked for details, that the Prince was only suffering from a sudden fainting unconsciousness "corpse syncope" syndrome, the nose breath is weak, as if dead, so he went to see the diagnosis and treatment. He let his disciples grinding research needle stone, stabbing Baihui point, and made the medicine can enter the body five points of ironing medicine, with eight minus the prescription of the medicine mixed use, the crown prince even sat up, and normal people are no different. Continue to tonify the yin and yang, two days later, the Prince fully restored health. From then on, it was rumored that Bian Magpie could "bring the dead back to life", but Bian Magpie denied it, saying that he could not bring the dead back to life, but only cured those who should be alive. On another occasion, Bian Magpie came to Cai State, and Duke Huan knew that he had a great reputation, so he invited Bian Magpie to a banquet, and when he met Duke Huan, he said, "The king is sick, it is just between the skin, and if it is not cured, it will be aggravated." Duke Huan did not believe him and was very upset. 10 days later, Bian Magpie went to see him again and said, "The king's disease has reached the bloodstream and will deepen if not cured." Duke Huan still didn't believe it and was even more upset. After another 10 days, when Bian Magpie saw Duke Huan again, he said, "The disease has reached the stomach and intestines, and it will get worse if not cured." Duke Huan was very angry, and he didn't like to be told that he was sick. 10 days passed again, and this time, Bian Magpie avoided Duke Huan as soon as he saw him, Duke Huan was very puzzled, and he asked Bian Magpie to tell him, "When the disease is between the skin, it can be treated by the skin's blood vessels, and it will get worse if not treated. When the disease is between the skin, it can be cured by ironing; in the blood, it can be cured by needling and stone-piercing; in the stomach and intestines, it can be cured with the help of wine; but when the disease reaches the bone marrow, it can't be cured, and now the king's disease is in the bone marrow, and there's nothing I can do about it." Sure enough, five days later, Duke Huan was seriously ill, and was busy sending for Bian Magpie, who was already gone. Soon after, Duke Huan died. It can be seen that the magpie's diagnostic techniques out of the gods, really "look and know the so-called God" of the god doctor. In the diagnostic methods of traditional Chinese medicine, diagnosis by looking is in the first place among the four diagnostic methods, which is very important and profound, and it is even more extraordinary to achieve the magical ability of knowing at a glance. These three examples are very famous medical stories, and the idioms of "bringing the dead back to life" and "refraining from treating illnesses" are also derived from them. According to legend, Bian Magpie was so famous that he was killed by Li Qui, the Imperial Doctor of Qin, because of his jealousy. One of the classics of Chinese medicine, the "Classic of Difficulties", is said to have been written by a man from Qin and Yue, but in terms of its content, it should have been written after the "Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine" was written, which was written in the Han Dynasty. Its content is profound and is one of the rare theoretical works of Chinese medicine. Therefore, the ancients entrusted the name of the book to the Qin-Yue people, which also indicated that the magpie held a high position in people's minds, and borrowed his name to show the importance of the book, as well as to express people's respect and remembrance of him.

[Edit Paragraph]Achievements

Invention of the Four Diagnostic Methods In diagnosing and treating illnesses, Bian Magpie had already applied the comprehensive diagnostic techniques of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which were later summarized by TCM practitioners as the Four Diagnostic Methods: looking (looking at his face, etc.), smelling (listening to the patient's recent illnesses from what he had done), questioning (asking if there was anything drying that could have led to the illnesses), and cutting (taking a look at his pulse), which were called the Look and Color, Smell, and Cut at that time. Bian magpie called them looking at the color, listening to the sound, writing the shadow and cutting the pulse. These diagnostic techniques are fully reflected in some of his cases of healing recorded in the history books. He was good at color-gazing, and judged the disease and its evolution and prognosis through color-gazing. For example, when he met Marquis Huan of Qi, he judged through color vision that Marquis Huan was sick, but his condition was still shallow, and the disease was still only in the couper's area on the surface of the body. He advised Marquis Huan of Qi to accept treatment, for if he did not, his condition would deepen. Huanhou refused treatment because he felt good about himself. Soon after, when Bian Magpie met with Marquis Huan again, he pointed out that his condition had worsened and the disease had progressed to the blood veins, and urged him to accept the treatment again to prevent his condition from progressing even further. Huanhou still refused treatment and was upset, thinking that Bian Magpie was showing off and profiting from the treatment. When Bian Magpie met him for the third time, he believed that his condition had worsened and the disease had entered the internal intestines and stomach, and if not treated in time, it would eventually be difficult to cure. Huanhou still ignored it. On the last occasion, Bian Magpie judged that Huan Hou's condition was so critical that he had entered the bone marrow and was so sick that he could not be cured. As expected, Huanhou soon became ill and finally died. This case shows that Bian Magpie was already able to apply the diagnostic method of pulse-cutting, and the level of diagnosis was quite high. Bian Magpie's pulse-cutting diagnostic method is also outstanding and has a high level. The Records of the Grand Historian praised Bian Magpie for being the earliest doctor to apply pulse diagnosis in clinical practice. During the pre-Qin period, the pulse diagnosis of Chinese medicine was the three-part, nine-waiting diagnosis, that is, when diagnosing a disease, the pulse of the whole body, including the head and neck, the upper limbs, the lower limbs and the torso, had to be cut according to. The magpie pulse diagnosis and its theory can be reflected in the diagnosis of the case of Prince Guo. At that time, Prince Guo was already unconscious, and Bian Magpie judged him to be "a corpse in ruins" through pulse diagnosis. He believed that the patient's yin and yang veins were out of balance, with the yang vein sinking down and the yin vein rushing up, i.e., the yin and yang veins were not in harmony, resulting in a disorder of the whole body's pulse, so the patient behaved as if he were dead. In fact, the patient did not really die, in addition to pulse diagnosis, he also observed that the patient's nose slightly moving. Combined with the cutting and touching, he found that the body surface of both thighs was still warm, and thus dared to make this judgment. The magpie was the first doctor in China's history to apply pulse diagnosis to determine disease, and put forward the corresponding theory of pulse diagnosis.

Medical Thought

In terms of treatment, Bian Magpie was skillful in applying comprehensive treatment methods. For example, in treating Prince Guo, he used the method of acupuncture, as well as hot ironing and tonics. Combination therapy is the main therapeutic measure when Bian Magpie practiced medicine. In the pre-Qin period, in the clinical evidence, medicine has not been clearly divided into branches. Although there were veterinarians, food doctors, disease doctors and ulcer doctors in the Rites of Zhou, this was only set up in the court. Veterinarian, food doctor, ulcer doctor, respectively, management of livestock diseases, the court food preparation and cut with knives and scissors surgery and other matters. Other than that, all other illnesses belonged to the category of disease doctors. Bian Magpie was a versatile doctor who could treat all kinds of diseases. Cases such as Marquis Huan of Qi and Prince Guo show that he was a competent doctor in internal medicine. Bian Magpie was also able to carry out medical activities according to the local needs, changing with the customs. When he traveled to the state of Qin (present-day Xianyang, Shaanxi Province), he specialized in treating children's diseases; when he traveled to Handan (then the capital of the state of Zhao), he mainly dealt with gynecological diseases; and when he traveled to Luoyang (then the capital of the state of Zhou, present-day Luoyang, Henan Province), he was mainly engaged in the treatment of diseases of the elderly, and mostly treated diseases of the ears, the eyes, and other five senses. According to records, Bian Magpie was also skilled in surgery and applied drug anesthesia to perform operations. In his medical career, Bian Magpie not only demonstrated a high level of diagnosis and treatment, but also showed noble medical ethics. He was modest and prudent, and never took credit for his work. For example, after he cured Prince Guo's corpse prostration evidence, Guo Jun was very grateful, and everyone praised him for his skill in bringing the dead back to life, but Bian Magpie said matter-of-factly, "This is a patient who is not dead, I can only make his serious illness eliminated and return him to his original state, and do not have the ability to bring the dead back to life."

Preventive Thought

Bian Magpie attaches great importance to the prevention of disease. Judging from the case of Marquis Qi Huan, the reason why he repeatedly advised early treatment was the idea of preventing diseases before they occur. He believed that as long as you take measures in advance to eliminate the disease at the initial stage, it is completely curable. He once pointed out with great emotion that there are many kinds of diseases, but doctors suffer from too few ways to treat them. Therefore, he paid much attention to the prevention of diseases.

Principles of treatment

During the pre-Qin period, witchcraft had a certain market and had become a stumbling block to the development of medical science. Magpie abhorred witchcraft and believed that medical science and witchcraft were incompatible. His thoughts on medical ethics are summarized in the Records of the Grand Historian as six precepts, known as the "Six No-Go's". These six do not rule include: believe in witchcraft not believe in medicine, arrogance regardless of the reason, light body and wealth, food and clothing can not be appropriate, the condition is so serious that "the shape of won't be able to take medicines, hiding gas uncertainty" and so on. That is: one is relying on power, arrogant and domineering people do not cure; two is greedy for money, disregard for the life of the person does not cure; three is overeating, dietary irregularities do not cure; four is the depth of the disease is not early to seek medical treatment does not cure; five is the body can not be weak to take medication does not cure; six is to believe in sorcery do not believe in the healing of the person does not cure. This was his credo in treating diseases, which also reflected his noble medical character. His medical experience was extremely rich, and he had compiled 9 volumes of the valuable Bianjie Neijing and 12 volumes of Bianjie Xiejing, which were unfortunately lost, which was a great loss for the motherland's medicine. On the basis of summarizing the medical experience of his predecessors, Bian Magpie created and summarized the methods of diagnosing diseases by looking (looking at the color of the skin), smelling (listening to the sound), asking (asking about the condition of the patient) and cutting (pressing the pulse). Among these four diagnostic methods, Bian Magpie was especially good at looking and cutting. At that time, Bian Magpie's pulse-cutting skill was so excellent that he became famous all over the world. Bian Magpie unselfishly taught his medical skills to his disciples, and his disciples Zi Yang, Zi Bao, and Zi Yue were all accomplished people. The Magpie School

The book "Yellow Emperor's Eighty-One Difficulties", which appeared later in the Han Dynasty, is believed to have been compiled on the basis of Bian Magpie's medical skills, especially his knowledge of pulse diagnosis, and was signed by Bian Magpie (a native of Qin and Yue). In recent times, it is also believed that his teachings have had a far-reaching impact and have led to the formation of the Bianjie school of medicine.

The Magpie Mountain Shrine, or Magpie Temple, is located 22 kilometers northwest of Neiqiu County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province, covering an area of 3,700 square meters, is an ancient building with a long history and a grand scale, and is now a national key cultural relics protection unit. Historical records: Zhao Jianzi, in appreciation of the magpie's cure, granted 40,000 acres of land around Pengshan in Zhongqiu (present-day Neiqiu, Xingtai) to the magpie, who then used it as a place for practicing medicine and picking up medicines. When Bian Magpie practiced medicine in Qin, Qin's doctor, Li Ai, who knew that his skills were inferior to those of Bian Magpie, was so jealous of him that he sent someone to stab Bian Magpie to death. The Prince of Guo tried every means to retrieve Bian Magpie's head from Qin and buried it in Pengshan Mountain in Neiqiu, Xingtai, and set up a temple to worship him, which led to the village being renamed "Shentou". The village was renamed "Shentou" and is now a famous historical and cultural village in Hebei Province. In front of the Magpie Temple, the Nine Dragons Water flows from west to east. It was named after the nine mountains and rivers upstream, and there used to be a white jade bridge called Nine Dragons Bridge, with a stone unicorn standing in front of the bridge, which exists today. According to legend, after the death of the magpie, his nine disciples were so grieved that they guarded their graves and became cypresses over time. In fact, it was planted as a remembrance by the descendants who admired Magpie's medical skills and virtues. Around the Temple of Magpie, there are still many sites where Magpie collected medicine, made medicine and performed surgery, and the medicinal stone, stone kang, and the ditch of fishing intestines still exist. People praised the loyalty and righteousness of the Prince of Guo, so they called the peak where he and the magpies gathered medicine "Prince Rock". Prince Rock is located 30 kilometers to the west of Neiqiu County, with thousands of dangerous peaks, hundreds of steep rocks, abundant grass and trees, and pine and cypress trees. Since the Zhou Dynasty, many temples have been built, and it is a scenic spot where natural and humanistic landscapes blend together. There is a Prince Cave on the hillside of Prince Rock, and there used to be a Prince Building, with a cave behind the building. According to legend, the Prince of Guo Guo once lived here and collected medicine together with Bianqi. It is said that the Prince of Guo once lived here and collected medicine with Bianzi. The construction of the Prince's Building is unknown, but it was rebuilt during the Daoguang period (1821-1850), and now the building is ruined and the cave is still there.
