Introduction of Blow and Stir Music

In terms of repertoire and performance style, traditional Han Chinese music is divided into two categories, namely, rough blowing gongs and drums and "fine blowing gongs and drums". ①Coarse blowing gongs and drums: Coarse blowing and beating, with a great sound, majestic and enthusiastic. Most of them use big gongs and drums, suona, pipes, long points and other instruments. Representative repertoire includes: "General's Order" in Shifan Gongs and Drums, and "Great Victory" in Jinbei Drums and Music. ②Fine blowing gongs and drums: fine blowing and rough playing, commonly used bamboo pipes and drums, sometimes blown with silk strings, representative repertoire: Zhedong gongs and drums in the "Ten Thousand Flower Lanterns", ten drums in the "Full House" and so on.

The performance of the blowing and beating music can be generally divided into "sitting music" and "traveling music" two kinds. Sitting music is played indoors, while marching music is played outdoors, especially on the road. Sitting music and marching music are not only different, but also different in the music they play. For example, the Xi'an Drum Music takes a long time to play a full set of sitting music, while the marching music usually plays only a part of the full set, which takes a shorter time. In addition, the sitting and marching music are also different. In Fujian, for example, the seated band line with wind instruments supplemented by strings in front of the hall was set up in a figure of eight, all the drums and gongs in a zigzag behind the hall; while the line of music is lined up in two columns, the drums and gongs in front of the drums and gongs in the back, not supplemented by strings.
