"Five Dynasties and Ten Countries"

How many years have the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms existed?

The Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms existed from 907 to 960.

This is the traditional view of old historians.

In fact, when the Northern Song Dynasty was established, most of the ten countries, such as Nantang, wuyue, Fujian, Chu, Nanhan, Nanping (that is, Jingnan) and Beihan, existed. How can it be said that all these countries have disappeared?

In 979 AD, the Northern Song Dynasty troops perished, and the Northern Han Dynasty and China were basically unified.

Based on this calculation, the history of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms actually reached 72 years, that is, 907-979 AD, and some of the ten kingdoms were established earlier.

At the same time, in addition to these five dynasties, there have been ten separatist regimes, namely, pre-Shu, post-Shu, Wu, Southern Tang, wuyue, Fujian, Chu, Southern Han, Nanping (namely, Jingnan) and Northern Han. This is the "Five Dynasties and Ten Countries" in the history of China.

The founding kings of the five dynasties were all square towns of the previous dynasties, which were developed by military separatism. Therefore, the historical characteristics of this period are frequent wars and frequent regime changes. ……
