Who is Barcelona's current manager
Born in Girona on September 17, 1969, he joined Barcelona's youth system in 1984, which amazingly was the same year that Pep Guardiola also joined the Barcelona youth system. During his time at La Masia, Villanova was a member of Barcelona's youth team (U18) and had many successes on the playing field. A passionate and technical midfielder, Villanova was later promoted to the Barcelona B team and also represented the first team in three friendlies (1988/89 season).
Billanova had a varied career, joining the likes of Figueirense, Celta, Badajoz, Mallorca, Lleida, Elche and Grammente.
After retiring from football, Villanova took on the role of coach of Barcelona's Junior (U15) team in the 2001/02 season, where he coached players including Gerard Piqué, Cesc Fabregas and Leo Messi.Villanova traveled to work for the likes of Parafragilistico, Figueirense and Terrassa prior to 2007, and formed a partnership with Pep Guardiola when he became the coach of Barcelona B. In the summer of 2012 Villanova joined the club as a coach, and in the summer of 2011 he joined the Barcelona B squad. In the summer of 2012, Villanova was officially appointed first-team manager by FC Barcelona.
