How to Understand Contemporary Ballet Diversity

Ballet is a form of multiculturalism. After the transplantation of ballet to China, it has prospered in the process of fusion of Chinese and Western cultures, while the process of nationalization has caused ballet to face the embarrassment of ups and downs. Under the care of the cultural principle of diversity and unity***existence, plurality and integration***physiology should become the new thinking of ballet nationalization innovation. The choice of this path can not only maintain the essential connotation of traditional ballet, but also enrich the theoretical basis of ballet nationalization, thus enhancing the tension of artistic creation.

Ballet as an art form was born in Italy in the early fifteenth century, and then spread to France, where it flourished under the high attention of the French nobility, and then spread to Russia, where it formed an independent educational system. Ballet in the development process of integration of multiple art forms, such as ancient Greek dance elements, Italian comedy elements, ancient Roman art elements, in addition to the French court dance elements and European folk dance elements. Ballet was introduced to China at the beginning of the last century, and along with the development of Chinese society, it really took root after the founding of New China. In the development of China in the past hundred years, our artists did not limit themselves to the reinterpretation of the Western classical ballet, but focused on the development of ballet's "nationalization", especially after the reform and opening up. Especially after the reform and opening up, Chinese ballet has widely absorbed the strengths of different schools of thought and created a series of ballets with Chinese characteristics, which have been recognized by the international ballet art world. This paper takes the performance repertoire of Chinese ballet as an entry point to try to analyze the development status and characteristics of Chinese ballet, and combines the Chinese cultural background and traditional culture with the study of ballet's "nationalization".
