Beijing Institute of Technology Professor Rong Jian: "new infrastructure" can not forget to make up for the short board of infrastructure

(Wen/PengKeFeng) At present, with the launch of a wave of new policies after the epidemic, the new energy automobile market has begun to gradually hot. At the same time, in the national "new infrastructure" program, also clearly mentioned the new energy, intelligent network, smart city and other related content. In this regard, Beijing Institute of Technology Professor Rong Jian said in an exclusive interview with the car headlines, new energy vehicles is a suitable carrier of the intelligent network, but in the process of the "new infrastructure", but also can not forget to make up for the short board of urban transportation and other infrastructure.

Rong Jian is currently the director of the Department of Transportation Engineering at the Center for Transportation Research at Beijing Institute of Technology, and also serves as a doctoral supervisor, mainly engaged in theoretical research and teaching of transportation planning. He is also the Secretary General of the China Communications and Transportation Association (CCTA) ***Hangzhou Branch, and also serves in the Urban Transportation (Public Transportation) Expert Group of the Municipal Public Utilities Industry Expert Committee of the Ministry of Construction, the Academic Committee of the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and the Transportation and Logistics Research Branch of the China Communications and Transportation Society, among other transportation-related professional associations. At the same time, Rongjian has also compiled and published a large number of professional articles on transportation research and participated in the research of major national and local transportation planning and management projects.

Local new-energy vehicle companies need to strengthen their branding

As a university professor, Rong has installed charging posts at his school and in his neighborhood. Although he has not yet purchased an electric car himself, he is keenly aware that these charging piles are not highly utilized.

"Many of the charging piles are actually broken, and no one comes to repair them for a long time, which leads to a not-so-good experience for EV owners." Rongjian said that the imperfect charging infrastructure is one of the obstacles preventing consumers from choosing EVs today.

In addition, Rong Jian believes that the actual range of the current new energy vehicles is still not up to the level of fuel vehicles, high energy density batteries caused by the security issues, is also the cause of the current electric vehicles can not be quickly popularized. However, it is believed that with the progress of technology, these problems are expected to be solved.

A noteworthy phenomenon is that this year, despite the long-term downturn in the domestic new-energy vehicle market, the domestic Tesla, as an outsider, has risen to prominence and achieved remarkable sales in March and April. In March this year, the domestic Tesla even sold around 15,000 units. In comparison, the domestic new energy brands are dwarfed.

In this regard, Rong Jian said this is mainly due to the strong personal brand effect of Tesla founder Musk. Musk, as a representative figure in the U.S. tech scene, has gathered a high level of popularity in areas such as rocket launches. These effects are naturally transferred to Tesla, which he founded. In addition, Chinese people have had a blind admiration and pursuit of foreign brands for quite a long time, which is also the reason why Tesla has been able to achieve success in China. In contrast, local new-energy car companies need to make more efforts in brand marketing.

Traditional car companies face challenges in the tide of intelligent network linkage

Now, the tide of the new four automobiles is getting stronger and stronger, and the country has also issued a number of documents to regulate the development of the intelligent network linkage automobile industry. In this regard, Rong Jian believes that, compared with traditional fuel vehicles, new energy vehicles, because of its own characteristics, naturally become a suitable carrier for the intelligent network.

"Compared with fuel vehicles, new energy vehicles have more electronic equipment, plus the use of 5G, will accelerate the network connection of electric vehicles," Rong Jian said, adding that there are two main routes for intelligent networked vehicles at present, one emphasizes single-vehicle intelligence, which is to load more sensors and equipment on the car; the other route is Vehicle-Road Collaboration, which advocates collaboration between road infrastructure and cars. The former route is dominated by car companies, while the latter is led by governments and research organizations.

From Rongjian's point of view, vehicle-road collaboration may be the main line and future development trend of the intelligent networked automobile industry, so that the role of car companies in this process will be weakened or even possibly marginalized. Therefore, traditional car companies will face many challenges in the tide of intelligent network.

"This is the reason why many car companies, such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and even Geely, are transforming into mobile mobility services. They also see the trend and are all trying to adapt, though its effect remains to be seen." Rong Jian said.

"New infrastructure" needs to make up for old short boards

Currently, the call for "new infrastructure" is getting stronger and stronger, and has become the focus of attention of all sectors of society. As an important pillar of the national economy, the automotive industry naturally has many aspects and "new infrastructure" related, such as new energy vehicles, intelligent networked vehicles, mobile energy storage, intelligent transportation and so on.

In this regard, Rongjian believes that in the current economic downturn in the background, the state launched the "new infrastructure" program will undoubtedly have a pulling effect on the current national economy. New energy vehicles as the country's key development industry, will also get the opportunity to develop. However, while emphasizing the development of new technologies and industries, we should not forget to make up for the shortcomings of the country's infrastructure over the past decades. Take urban transportation and intelligent transportation as an example, in terms of traffic lights, traffic signs and other urban road traffic infrastructure, compared to developed countries, even first-tier cities such as Beijng, Shanghai and Guangzhou, there are obvious gaps. Although these aspects seem very inconspicuous and not so "lofty", but it can play a real role. Therefore, the "new infrastructure" should not forget to make up for some of the shortcomings of the past.

"In addition, in the long run, in the north of Guangzhou, such as super large cities, the intensification of transportation, **** enjoyment will be the general trend. Therefore, in these regions, it may not be realistic to hope that the country will further relax the policy of restricting transportation and purchasing." Rong Jian concluded.
