The Western powers have long been focusing on Asia and Africa, and seem to have little interest in Latin America, and this is still the case with the US, UK and France today.

From 1823, the 5th President of the United States Monroe proposed the Monroe Declaration, is the United States warned the European powers (especially when Latin America stupid Holy Alliance): the Americas is the United States of America's sphere of influence, the European powers do not hit the idea of Latin America. When Napoleon III's Second French Empire invaded Mexico in 1861 to support the puppet: the Second Mexican Empire, the United States not only sent troops to directly threaten the French invasion forces, but also fully supported the forces of Mexican President Juarez to provide weapons. The U.S. Congress unanimously passed a resolution on April 4, 1864, opposing the establishment of monarchical rule in Mexico. The U.S. Navy also blockaded to block the landing of the reinforcing French forces. The actions of the U.S. forces forced France to eventually withdraw three months later. European intervention in Latin America was completely crushed by the United States. From then on, Europe accepted the warning that the United States would not allow Europe to interfere in the Western Hemisphere, and would not colonize the already independent countries of the Americas. From then on, Latin America became a backyard controlled by the United States.
