When
The Festival of the Three Kings takes place on January 6 every year and is also the Spanish Children's Day.
Events
1, Three Kings Parade
To talk about this Three Kings Festival, we need to first understand the origin of this festival, the Three Kings of this festival refers to the three saints mentioned in the bible who came from the east to make a pilgrimage to worship at the time of Jesus's birth, the black-faced king ( Baltasar), the yellow-faced king (Gaspar) and the white-faced king (Merchor), each giving a gift to the newly born Jesus.
This holiday is very important to Spain, and every city here hosts a major and lively procession on the evening of January 5, which is very lively.
On the day of the parade, a float carrying the Three Kings walks through the streets, sprinkling candies, a sign that the Three Kings have brought gifts from the far east, and people rush under the float to grab the candies, which are full of good luck.
Then there will be lots of costumed elves, circus clowns, acrobatic teams on stilts and other fun characters and activities in the parade!
And, in addition to this, there is also a gift-giving procession, which is a favorite among children. On this day, children usually write down what they want to give to the Three Kings a few days before the festival, and then the Three Kings will quietly place the gifts in the children's homes on the 5th of January.
The children would receive their favorite gifts early in the morning, and if you weren't a good boy, you'd end up with some coal candy, so be good!
