What festival is Shoutian Festival? "Crying Days Festival", also known as "Sacrificing Heaven Festival" or "Begging for Rain Festival", is a local traditional festival, which is held every year on June 15th of the lunar calendar. Dong people's "Shout for Heaven Festival" originated in Huanggang Village, Shuangjiang Township, Liping County. Huanggang and Liping are called "Festival of Sacrificing Heaven", and the Dong language "Xie Saxiang" means offering sacrifices to Leipo.
In order to pray for Leipo's blessing, the local Dong people sacrifice to Leipo every year on June 15th of the lunar calendar, so as to ensure the prosperity of six livestock and peace in the world. Because everyone should shout loudly on their backs when offering sacrifices, the name "Shouting the Heavenly Sacrifice" is hence named. Every household will invite guests to participate in the "Shout Day Festival" every year according to their own situation. The scale of activities ranges from thousands to tens of thousands.
