Herbal remedies to combat withdrawal symptoms
Houou Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid and Prickly Wujia Tablet are traditional pure Chinese medicinal preparations, which have not been reported to be used in opioid dependence detoxification treatment. A study conducted jointly by the School of Medicine of Hubei University of Nationalities and the Compulsory Drug Rehabilitation Center of Public Security Bureau of Enshi Autonomous Prefecture in Hubei proved that the two are used in conjunction for detoxification treatment, which can alleviate the symptoms of early withdrawal and mid-period delayed withdrawal, and have a tendency to reduce the rate of 1-year resuscitation.
Houou Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid (Huo Xiang, Angelica dahurica, Atractylodes macrocephala, Semen Aristolochia sinensis, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Pericarpium Dahabii) is mainly used for the treatment of colds and flu-induced fever, dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc. The Sheng Wuganga Tablets are used for the treatment of deficiency of the spleen and kidney yang, weakness and fatigue, lack of appetite, lumbar and knee pain, and insomnia and excessive sleepiness. They do not contain opium and scopolamine components, with certain curative effects and no toxic side effects. Hubei College of Nationalities Medical College and Hubei Enshi Autonomous Prefecture Public Security Bureau Compulsory Drug Rehabilitation Center had experimentally confirmed that the two have the effect of alleviating the withdrawal symptoms of morphine-dependent rats, and in order to confirm the efficacy, they carried out a study on the clinical treatment of heroin dependence by combining Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid and Prickly Wujia Tablet.
The researchers randomly divided 143 drug addicts into three groups (44 cases in the control group, 48 cases in treatment group A, and 5 cases in treatment group B). All three groups were detoxified with lorphacidin hydrochloride (LFX) for 12 days, and after detoxification, the control group took the analog preparation, treatment group A took patchouli oral liquid and prickly five-ga tablets for 60 days, and treatment group B took patchouli oral liquid and prickly five-ga tablets from the beginning of detoxification with LFX. After discontinuing LFX for 10 days, the two treatment groups were observed for 1 week and scored for the associated delayed withdrawal symptoms, and the relapse of smoking was investigated by urinalysis after 1 year. The results showed that the withdrawal symptom scores of the 3 groups were lower in treatment group B than in treatment group A, and lower in treatment group A than in the control group, and that the relapse rates of the 3 groups were significantly lower in treatment group B than in the control group, and lower in treatment group B than in treatment group A.
The above clinical observations proved that the combination of Huoxiang zhengqi oral liquid and Shengwugang tablets could significantly alleviate the symptoms of early withdrawal and mid-term delayed withdrawal symptoms. The symptom scores of the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group, and the relapse rate within 1 year was 93.2% in the control group, 85.4% in the group after detoxification, and 74.5% in the group during the detoxification period, which seemed to have the effect of lowering the relapse rate, suggesting that taking Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid and Acanthopanax Senticosus tablets at an early stage could help to prevent relapse. It may be related to the early control of acute withdrawal symptoms.
The researchers believe that the mechanism of action of the combination of Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid and Sheng Wu Jia Tablets may have the following four points. First, the patchouli, dahurica, atractylodes macrocephala, shengmixia, chenpi, and dahabu pi in Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid have been confirmed to antagonize the intestinal tubular spasm and glandular secretion increase induced by acetylcholine by the pharmacological study of modern Chinese medicine. Particularly, Radix et Rhizoma Pinelliae, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae and Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori can antagonize the increase in secretion of salivary glands and lacrimal glands induced by Trichothecenes, Acetylcholine and Strychnine, and have the effect of Scopolamine. These may be one of the main reasons for its relief of khat symptoms in withdrawal symptoms.
The second is that Houpaku in Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Oral Liquid can significantly inhibit the motor excitation in mice due to stimulation of the dopamine system; Perilla can prolong the sleep time of mice caused by cyclohexenylbarbiturates, and its activity is comparable to that of chlorpromazine hydrochloride; Poria can antagonize the over-excitatory effect of caffeine on mice, and its decoction has a stronger anti-schizophrenic effect. Poria cocos can significantly prolong the sleep time of mice caused by sodium isobarbital, and shorten the latency of falling asleep has the effect of improving sleep. The above may be the main reason for its relief of insomnia, agitation and restlessness in the symptoms of delayed withdrawal.
Thirdly, Prickly Wujia Tablet can better regulate the secretion of thyroxine and stimulate the secretion of gonads and adrenal glands. It has the effect of increasing semen volume and enhancing sperm vitality, enhancing sexual function, promoting precocious puberty and increasing body weight; it also has the effect of anti-fatigue, improving sleep, improving work efficiency and enhancing immune function. This may be its main mechanism to fight against low work efficiency, poor memory, endocrine dysfunction and low sexual function in the delayed withdrawal symptoms.
Fourth, the main component of Houpu in Huoxiang Zhengqi Oral Liquid, magnolia arrowtoxin, has obvious antihypertensive and cardiac rhythm-slowing effects, and its Houpu phenol component can counteract rat aortic constriction induced by K+, Ca2+, norepinephrine, etc., by blocking the Ca2+ channel; hemipteran has the effect of counteracting the adrenaline-induced ventricular tachycardia of canines; and the spikenard polysaccharides increase the coronary arterial blood flow, slowing down the cardiac rhythm, inhibiting myocardial contractility, and making abnormalities of myocardial contractility. inhibit myocardial contractility and significantly reduce abnormal action potentials. These may be the main reasons for its ability to counteract the accelerated heart rate and elevated blood pressure caused by the excessive release of norepinephrine after withdrawal
Withdrawal symptoms.
