Why is religion called superstition? Is religion really superstitious?

The so-called superstition is a misunderstood part of religion.

For example, there is a folk custom of burning paper money, which is a religious misunderstanding. In religion, there is a ceremony to turn over the dead, in which some scattered and papery memorial tablets are burned, and in Taoism, symbols are also burned. These religious ceremonies gradually evolved into folk superstitions. In fact, neither Buddhism nor Taoism has the ceremony of burning paper money.

Many other folk superstitions have evolved from misunderstanding of religion.

True religion is not superstition. For example, there are dozens of Buddhist colleges in China, Buddhist research centers in China Academy of Social Sciences, and Buddhist courses in many famous universities, which shows that Buddhism is not superstition.
