Cheongsam styles and classification

The cheongsam styles can be categorized according to the following aspects:

1, according to the collar type.

Can be categorized into general collar, penguin collar, phoenix fairy collar, collarless collar, teardrop collar, bamboo leaf collar, horseshoe collar and so on. When choosing a cheongsam, the collar type can also be an important reference factor. Women with short necks are not suitable for choosing high collars, and for women with longer necks, there is no restriction and a much wider range of choices.

2, categorized by cuffs.

Can be categorized into sleeveless, cut shoulder, short sleeve, seven-minute sleeve, eight-minute sleeve, long sleeve, narrow sleeve small, trumpet sleeve, large trumpet sleeve, horseshoe sleeve, anti-folding sleeve and so on. Usually the long sleeves are nineteen to twenty inches (63-67 cm), the more the medium sleeves are sixteen inches (53 cm), and the short sleeves are ten inches (13 cm) long.

Generally, younger girls prefer short sleeves, while older women prefer to wear long sleeves.

3. Categorized by placket.

Can be divided into single placket, double placket, straight placket, oblique placket, pipa placket, curved placket and no placket. Lapel shape is relative to the placketed cheongsam. The double placket is more complicated than the single placket in terms of production, as it involves first opening both sides of the placket on the cheongsam and then sewing one of the plackets together.

This sewn-in placket is only used as a decoration, so wearing a double-breasted cheongsam is the same as a single-breasted cheongsam, except that a double-breasted cheongsam is much more visually pleasing and noble.

4, according to the pendulum type classification.

Can be divided into wide hem, straight hem, A hem, dress hem, fishtail hem, short before and long after the sleeve big, sawtooth hem. Everyday wear of cheongsam is dominated by wide and straight hems, while dress hems and fishtail hems are used for specific occasions such as wedding banquets, cocktail parties, and attending events.

5, according to the slit classification.

The slit of cheongsam is divided into high slit and low slit. The cheongsam in the past is not slit, cheongsam in the shortening of the sleeve, but also quietly in the left side of the low slit. Later, the slit became higher and higher, gradually high to the knee, high to the thigh. Due to some people's opposition, the gown slit once returned to below the knee. But the pressure of public opinion is reduced, the robe slit and quickly rise, after 1933 popular slit cheongsam.
