What is the difference between remote sensing science and technology and surveying and mapping engineering, and which prospect is good?
Remote sensing science and technology (RS) is simply remote sensing, that is, obtaining target data without touching the target. It is realized by various sensors, such as scanners, cameras, radar, sonar and so on. It belongs to an interdisciplinary subject and has been developed in recent years. When I went to school in 2003, only four universities in China had undergraduate majors in remote sensing science and technology. Surveying and mapping engineering has a long history. Surveying and mapping engineering, as its name implies, is to obtain the basic surveying and mapping data of engineering construction through various means, that is, spatial data. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. At present, remote sensing is mainly used for large-scale data collection, such as the second land survey and the third land planning in North China in 2008. Other cutting-edge technologies, such as space science, are not available because of my limited ability. Remote sensing is widely used in the military and has a good development prospect. At present, the development direction is 3S integration (RS, GPS, GIS) and microwave jamming radar (which seems to be the name). I think the prospect of remote sensing technology is still good.
