abstractionism

The artistic image deviates from or completely abandons the appearance of natural objects to a great extent. The original meaning of the word abstraction refers to the abandonment of non-essential factors and the extraction of essential factors. Some original works of art and most arts and crafts works, as well as artistic styles such as calligraphy and architecture, should belong to abstract art in terms of the deviation between their images and natural objects. However, abstract art, as a conscious artistic trend of thought, rose in Europe and America in the 20th century. Many modernist art schools, such as abstract expressionism, cubism and Tahitis, were influenced by this. Modern abstract art can be roughly divided into two types: ① reducing, refining or reorganizing the appearance of natural objects; (2) completely abandoning natural objects, in a pure form, is called pure abstraction. There are two kinds of the former: one is to pursue an essence based on one's own concept of things, MINUS factors that are considered secondary and accidental; The other is the mode of extracting artistic images from individual special natural objects. The latter is divided into perceptual type and rational type. Emotional type is called thermal abstraction, such as W. Kandinsky and J. Miro. Rational type is called cold abstraction, represented by K.C. Malevic and P.mondriaan Abstractionism prevailed in 1950s. Modern abstract art movement is a rebellion against the whole tradition of simulating nature, which has a far-reaching impact on modern and contemporary art.

The origin of abstract art

Abstract art is a name relative to figurative art, and it can also be called non-figurative art. It is characterized by the lack of description, expression of concepts, and painting by perceptual methods, which basically belongs to expressionism and was first seen in Kandinsky's works. It combines various anti-traditional artistic influences, especially those from Fauvism and Cubism.

"Abstract" art does not exist in Picasso's view. He thinks that only some people emphasize style, while others emphasize life. In Michelle Sefer's view, abstract art is: "I call all art without any reminder of reality and any memory, regardless of whether this reality is the painter's starting point or not."

In fact, Fauvism and Cubism promoted the independent development of form and color. It was Kandinsky who further discovered its mystery. 19 10 years, he painted the first absolutely abstract watercolor painting, which was a vivid overlapping color point with no specific desire. Kandinsky's creative invention was to get aesthetic inspiration from music, and then Kupka of Czech Republic got inspiration directly from music to create abstract art. He was called the originator of musicalist painters, and later they formed the abstract school together.

Two branches of abstract art

Since the first abstract work was produced in 19 10, it has developed rapidly in the west, and many forms have been derived, which has become the main body of abstract art. It is a branch of cubism:

1. Crushing objects with light, showing the futurism of modernity and speed (1909- 19 15)

2. Constitutionalism (1913-191965438) uses iron wire, glass and metal sheets to form non-image images.

3. Instead of observing the object, describe the absolutism of direct feeling by feeling and looking for so-called new symbols (19 15).

4. Neo-patternism (19 17) is composed of three primary colors or right-angle blocks and straight lines.

5. Oppose the reappearance of nature and proceed from nature to abstract figurative art (1920s).

6. Abstract formalism (1950s-1970s) used simple ribbons or colored surfaces, which are increasingly simple and pure graphics, such as hard edge art, colored surface art and minimal art..

7. Light effect art (1960s) caused visual errors through artificial light and color processing with geometric figures.

From animism and expressionism:

1. Abstract expressionism with lines, traces and points as symbols reflects the author's subconscious self-feeling (1940s).

2. On the canvas, the author of Action School (1945- 1955) expresses himself through unconscious color splash in unconscious actions.

In the brief development of abstraction, the works show enough inner beauty and expressive force, and involve painting, sculpture, arts and crafts and other fields, but it brings confusion or differences in aesthetic standards.

Quasi-visual Art-Abstract Art

Since the 20th century, the definition of abstract art is no longer just the antithesis of realistic style. In the development of western abstract expression, the content of concreteness, abstraction and narration has been recognized. The use of composite media has opened up the limitations of formal expression and highlighted its rich vocabulary. Following the framework of Kandinsky and mondriaan's visual aesthetics, artists are still interpreting the meaning of the word "abstract" in art history, extending the meaning to sociology, art history and other levels, so that the possibility of presenting abstract meaning is broader.

"Learning" and "experience" lead people's values to the same value crisis, thus making people lose their independent personality and unable to interpret real phenomena, touch and reflect on things. The sense of loss in life is also produced in the process of people becoming more and more confused about themselves. Painting reminds people of the possibility of communicating with the outside world, and reminds people not to bind their eyes with concepts, but to bind their own perspectives and possibilities. Let the existing framework that exists in your mind be liberated. Only in this way can the subtle feelings existing in space and fresh scenes pass through our eyes and enter our hearts through a free atmosphere. Let things that are illogical or not in line with our habits become objects that our eyes can recognize. Try to open our eyes, activate people's hearts, and then become active and enrich our life experience.

Realistic emotional themes often correspond clearly, while abstraction often provides elements corresponding to emotions with colors and shapes. When the element clue is contrary to the visual universality, it is often difficult for the expression of the viewer's emotion to reach the center of the painter's emotion. Painters take a realistic approach to life scenes, but they can break away from the angle of "inertia" in concept and look at the scenes with new eyes and enter the painting. As for whether the abstract and the concrete can coexist in the picture, the painter often makes a preliminary judgment on the possibility in the process of observing and choosing the theme. This judgment comes from the "animal" instinct of the painter who tries to restore and observe the essence of things. Only by exploring the subtle changes of matter itself through instinctive eyes, or observing the new relationship arising from the coexistence of matter, can new visual ideas be produced. In the process of creation, painters try to abandon the limitations brought by refined skills and learning background. The painter believes that random scenes in life, without whitewashing or imposing symbolic meaning, may form the main force of the picture as long as they can master the changes of light and shadow between the brakes. What a good painting touches people is actually an abstract feeling, except the brushwork. That abstract feeling is your own abstract space. I'm not talking about the three-dimensional space of the material world, but your own abstract space. ..... "... when looking for the relationship between objects on the plane canvas, there is a contradictory multi-viewpoint relationship. It makes every part of the picture an essential element, and there are tense contradictions everywhere. Perhaps this is the painter's ability to foresee objects outside the eyes of ordinary people, and it is also the artist's artistry to express the tension of the picture in the visual limit. The painter thinks that two degrees and three degrees, or realism and abstraction, are real scenes that coexist in the real world, and they are not transformed by themselves. He just grasped the part of people's lives that is often ignored and forgotten.

In the category of western abstract painting, whether it is geometric abstraction after mondriaan or lyrical abstraction after Kandinsky. In the context of western abstract system, people often try to dominate the audience with strong emotions and accept the comprehensive subjective expression of the picture. Although this touched or shocked the audience, the powerful force from the painting itself often swallowed up the corresponding subjective emotions of the audience and became a one-way emotional exchange. In Matisse's work The Red House, color is used to express scenes in two-dimensional and three-dimensional space, and colors and lines seem to be Matisse's most accurate communication tools. Matisse did not deviate from the law of accurate perspective, but reduced the individual role of objects, cleverly using colors and lines to imply the relationship between the existence of objects and the directionality of three-dimensional space. Because the description of the fine parts of the object is simplified, the object appears as a symbolic plane to show its irreplaceable properties, and even the object gets subtle hints at the seams or lines on the color surface.

On the other hand, the development of China's abstract painting is obviously different not only in style, but also in the development of ideological context. For example, China's literati paintings do not deliberately pursue development in formal vocabulary, but work hard on "personality cultivation". Simplify, do not pursue the limitation of formal vocabulary; On the contrary, the casual space in the picture naturally reveals the painter's personality traits, leaving more imagination space for the viewer, and then gathering the main sources of emotion. What is discussed is a perfect feeling in human heart, not a rigorous invention or greatness. Being closer to life itself is a spiritual meaning of self-cultivation, not the possibility of repeating the development of human material form. Due to the different cultural characteristics of the East and the West, two sets of different abstract methods have been formed, which is obviously an inevitable phenomenon. However, in the process of accepting international recognition, in order to speed up the pace of recognition, it is easy to fall into the western abstract aesthetic system, and it is a pity to ignore that it already has a certain oriental blood culture texture. In the future, under the strong spread of cultural information, although it can be expected that human emotions will gradually generate universal communication and mutual recognition, it is relatively important for oriental artists to control their own views and not be overwhelmed by the western aesthetic system in the process of integration.

Masters are just constantly looking for a way to remind people of the innate acuity of eyes. Just like a product with higher resolution than any other technology, everyone can be a good director, absorbing and developing the most imaginative possibilities in the existing world vision. What is modern art? Is it because human beings have been deeply immersed in contradictory emotions that they want to seek liberation from the endless end through art in the process of repeatedly breaking free and balancing creation? Not for the pursuit of artistic achievements, but with the wheel of the times, submerged in the huge sound of modern art, can not hear the inner yearning and pursuit.

"Painting will eventually return to the keen instinct of the eyes and present the essence existing in the inner world in the form of painting. The ultimate meaning of art does not point to the greatness of art. For artists, art is a way to solve life problems and to communicate with human beings. A brief glimpse of life is often the part forgotten by the concept, but it is the most profound and unchanging eternity in vision.

It is the contrast between virtual and real, this is real life, and virtual is built with imagination and creativity.
