Honesty is the motto of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology and the soul of a school. The school motto embodies the tradition of running a school, represents the campus culture and educational concept, is a highly concise humanistic spirit, and is the accumulation of school history and culture.

In 2002, on the basis of combining the characteristics of running a school and extensively soliciting the opinions of teachers and students, the school motto of "sincere and knowledgeable" was formed. "Honesty" means being honest with yourself; Be sincere to others; Be honest with the country and society. Only by being honest and trustworthy and having high moral character can we be loyal to our country and cause, love our jobs and be good at doing good deeds. "Knowledgeable" means knowledgeable, knowledgeable and broad. Since its establishment, "Sincerity to Bo" is not only a highly concise summary of the spirit of running a school in the first 44 years, but also enriched and confirmed in the subsequent 16 years of school development. The motto of "Sincerity and Broadness" condenses the arduous and tortuous course of running a school and bears the historical imprint of the educational loyalty of the people of HKUST to the party.
