Arowana, whose origin is called "Arowana", means "long tongue" in Spanish. The scientific name Sxleropages means hyoid pharynx. Hong Kong is called "Dragon Figure Bamboo", Japan is called "Silver Sword Fish" or "Silver Boat Fish", China is used to calling it "Arowana" and Taiwan Province Province is called "Silver Belt".

Now biologists and tropical fish research experts pay more attention to this kind of fish, because: ① Arowana has a blue-silver light all over its body and its scales are very large. When it is illuminated by light, it will reflect pink light, and its fins are pink or orange-red, which is not available in other tropical fish, so it is loved by everyone. ② The breeding of arowana is mysterious and has not been widely propagated by workers so far; Arowana is a fish left over from ancient times, which has archaeological and academic value; (4) Arowana is native to Asia, South America, Australia and Africa, but the red dragon series (red dragon, orange dragon, golden dragon, black dragon and white dragon) native to Southeast Asia are now endangered, and 1987 is listed as a protected species by the Washington Wildlife Protection Treaty. Arowana variety

Arowana native to Southeast Asia includes Red Dragon, Orange Red Dragon, Huang Jinlong, Bai Jinlong, Qinglong and Jinlong. Young red dragon fish is slightly different from adult fish: the scales of young fish are small and white, slightly red, but unlike adult fish, the edge of gill cover is dark red, the tongue of fish is red and the scales are shiny; The edge color of Huang Jinlong scales is golden; Platinum-like platinum Long Lin; The scales of Qinglong are blue, and some of them are the most precious purple patches. Its size is shorter than other kinds of arowana, and its lateral line is particularly exposed. Scales and scales are thick and can be propagated by artificial propagation. South American arowana includes silver dragon and black dragon. The scale of the silver dragon is huge, pink and semi-circular, and the color of the fish body is golden ancient blue, sky blue and cyan, which is sparkling; The black dragon is similar in size to the silver dragon, and the adult fish is slightly silver, but when it is slightly older, it tends to be black with purple and cyan and gold stripes. There are two kinds of arowana in Australia and New Guinea: spotted arowana and spotted arowana. Arowana is an ancient fish, belonging to the family Leptospira. Its reproductive ability is very weak. It is very strange that females lay eggs and males hatch and feed in their mouths. Because of its two beards, shiny scales and ancient life experiences, people naturally associate it with the mysterious dragon and call it "arowana".

Arowana is regarded as sacred fish in Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and places where overseas Chinese are concentrated. In Wang's hometown, people think it can be used as a feng shui fish to ward off evil spirits. Arowana, in particular, was listed as a class A protected animal by the Washington Wildlife Protection Treaty at 1980. In Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan Province, the price of one-stop fish is more than one million yuan, which is regarded as a symbol of family wealth and status.

Living fossil-arowana
