Translation:

Heaven and earth are the adversaries of all things; time and light are the passers-by of a hundred generations. And the floating life is like a dream, for the joy of it? The ancient people with candles at night, good to have also. The spring called me to the smoke scene, the big piece of leave me to the article. The garden of peach blossoms, the order of heavenly happiness. The group season handsome, all for Huilian; I sing, only ashamed of Kangle. I have not yet finished my enjoyment, but I am now ready to talk about it. Open the agar feast to sit flowers, flying goblets and drunken moon. Background of the composition

In the fifteenth year of Emperor Xuanzong's reign (727 A.D.), the twenty-seven-year-old author came to Anlu, "leaving his country with his sword, and resigning from his family to travel far away. The Preface to the Spring Night Banquet in the Peach Blossom Garden of the Cousins was written in Anlu around 733 A.D. (the twenty-first year of the reign of Emperor Kaiyuan), when the author and his cousins feasted on a spring night and wrote a poem, for which he wrote this preface.

Interpretation
