Overview of acupuncture and moxibustion
When the ancients were simmering and heating, they were accidentally burned by fire, which relieved some kind of pain, and thus got the enlightenment that burning can cure diseases. This is the origin of moxibustion. The word "moxibustion" is interpreted as "burning" in Shuo Wen Jie Zi, which means burning the body to treat diseases. At first, branches and firewood may be used to smoke, scald, burn and scald to eliminate diseases, and moxa sticks are gradually chosen as the main moxibustion material. Artemisia argyi has grown on the vast land of our country since ancient times. Because of its fragrant smell, mild flammability and moderate firepower, it has replaced the general branch fuel and become the best material for moxibustion. According to Zuo Zhuan, in A.D. 10 (58 1 year BC), Duke Jing of Jin fell ill, and Qin's doctor ordered the doctor to see him slowly. The doctor said: "The disease can't be done, nor can it be attacked, and the medicine can't be cured." Jin Du pre-note: "attack" refers to moxibustion, "reach" refers to acupuncture. Zhang Zhongjing's Treatise on Febrile Diseases in Han Dynasty recorded "fire can be" and "fire can not be", and the fire he said also refers to moxibustion.
The word "Moxibustion" was first found in existing literature records, such as Zhuangzi A Thief's Foot. For example, Confucius advised Liu: "Autumn is also called disease-free moxibustion." Mencius o Li Lou also recorded that "today's people want to be king, there are still seven years of illness, and they want to be in love for three years", obviously referring to moxibustion. It can be inferred that moxibustion was quite popular in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. 1973, Excavation of No.3 Han Tomb in Mawangdui, Changsha, Hunan, China. Among the unearthed silk books, there are three records of meridian moxibustion, which is the earliest precious document before Neijing. Among medical monographs, moxibustion was first seen in Neijing. "The Theory of Different Treatments by Different Parties" said: "The northerners are hidden in heaven and earth, with high mountains, cold air and cold ice, and their folk music is wild, dirty and cold. Therefore, it is also northerners who practice moxibustion and ice compress. " It shows that the emergence of moxibustion is closely related to the living habits, conditions and characteristics of the people in northern China.
