What's the difference between Viking metal and Scandinavian metal
Scandinavian metal is a style of metal that can basically be described as Nordic metal. The music is melodic and more grandiose, with a focus on virtuosity. Scandinavian metal is a more macro style, and a lot of Scandinavian death metal, black metal, and pagan/folk/epic type metal is Scandinavian metal.
Viking metal is not a metal style, it is not played in a specific way, it simply plays on what the music is meant to reflect. It basically reflects the life, wars, honor and national pride of the Scandinavians, especially the Vikings, with some folk instruments thrown in. It belongs to the category of Epic Metal, and most of the pieces also belong to Scandinavian Metal.
