I have a strong interest in the traditional culture of China, and I like reading classics such as Four Books and Five Classics, Buddhism and history. What major should I apply for in the postgraduate entrance examination according to my own interests? The Four Books and Five Classics are Confucian classics. The core of Confucianism is benevolence, and the foothold of benevolence lies in people. Therefore, the core of Confucianism is how to be a man, so it emphasizes personality-the qualification to be a man. Therefore, the core meaning of the Four Books and Five Classics is how to maintain personality, be a real person in this life and be a person in the next life. Specifically, it is five words: benevolence, righteousness, courtesy, wisdom and faith. The condition is that domestic products have five precepts and ten virtues.

The goal of Taoism is to transcend personality, obtain the qualification of becoming a god, live happily in this life, and be a god with greater blessings in the afterlife. The conditions are top grade, five precepts and ten goodness. Therefore, the four books and five classics are also compulsory.

The goal of Buddhism is to leave the six divisions in the wheel of karma, be aloof and holy, and obtain the qualification of saints-saints, arhats, bodhisattvas and buddhas. Live clearly in this life, be a saint in the next life, or go directly to the pure land. The condition is that pure industry has three blessings-people have blessings (good times), filial piety to parents, service to teachers, kindness not to kill life, and cultivation of ten good industries. Hinayana four meetings, two blessings (abstinence from kindness), three times of support, abstinence from foot, and no violation of dignity. Mahayana bodhicitta, cultivate bodhisattva, and stop observing the great bodhi fruit.

Mahayana blessing (doing good) inspires bodhicitta, believes in cause and effect, recites Mahayana, and exhorts those who do good. Therefore, the four books and five classics are also compulsory.

The Four Books and Five Classics can be said to be the same root of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.
