The national traditional sports games for ethnic minorities will be held every four years, and so far it has been held successfully for ten years, which is China's highest level and the most influential national traditional sports events. The Games are organized by the State People's Committee and the State General Administration of Sport, with delegations from provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
On June 13, Zhang Junfeng, standing committee member and propaganda minister of the Zhengzhou Municipal Committee and deputy director of the Games' executive committee, introduced the mascot idea.
According to the introduction, the Games emblem of the main graphic by the soaring upward dragon, phoenix and the two sides of the ribbon: the dragon and phoenix shaped like the Arabic numeral "11", just for the session of the Games, but also "dragon and phoenix" meaning; the two sides of the rotating into a semicircle of orange and blue-green. The orange and blue-green ribbons rotating into a semicircle on both sides represent the Yellow River and the Yangtze River respectively, implying the unity and cohesion of various nationalities in the south and north of the world. The outline of the emblem is similar to the outline of the Chinese character "δΈ", and the dragon and phoenix fly together, highlighting the theme of "the Chinese nation as one family, building the Chinese dream with one heart".
The mascot of the Games is the dragon child "Zhongzhong" dressed in traditional Chinese costumes, whose chest decorative pattern is taken from the classic Shang Dynasty bronze "Shang Ding" unearthed in Zhengzhou, reflecting the deep historical and cultural deposits of Zhengzhou, where the Games will be held.
The theme song of the Games, "Running Dreams", was produced by renowned lyricist Wang Pingjiu, composer Ma Ma and music producer Chang Shilei (Mongolian).
