On March 16, 2014, the Autonomous ****he State of Crimea, Ukraine, held a referendum on its status. Chairman of the Commission for the Preparation and Implementation of the Referendum Mareyshev announced on 17 March that a tally of all the votes cast in the referendum showed that more than 96% of voters across the Crimean Peninsula were in favor of Crimea's membership in Russia.

On March 17, 2014, the Parliament of the Autonomous **** and State of Crimea in Ukraine decided that Crimea became a sovereign state on its own, naming it the Crimean **** and State. On that day, 85 members of the 100-seat Crimean parliament voted, and the decision was adopted unanimously. The Crimean Parliament also made a proposal to the Russian Federation to join it as a new federal subject. The Knesset also decided that, as of today, all governmental institutions on the Crimean Peninsula are to transfer their powers and facilities to the Crimean **** and State.
