Write a composition of more than 600 words on cutting window grilles during the Spring Festival

The Chinese New Year is coming soon, and Spring Festival couplets are posted in front of every house. However, my favorite thing is to cut window grilles and stick them in the middle of the window, which is more likely to highlight a family’s talents and festive atmosphere.

I found out from the Internet that paper-cutting, as a Chinese folk art, first originated in the Han and Tang Dynasties. For thousands of years, it has been popular among the people with its unique charm, and every wedding During festivals, paper-cutting is sure to shine in every room.

In order to inherit and carry forward folk art, just before the Spring Festival, my grandmother showed off her special skills of cutting flowers and birds. I saw her taking out a piece of red paper and folding it up and down. With a few scissors, she cut out a pair of lifelike mandarin ducks playing in the water. Fold another piece of red paper, cut it with some scissors, and open it to see a pair of magpies holding plum blossoms. I was stunned and couldn't believe my eyes. The paper-cut in front of me was made by my grandma.

So out of curiosity, I asked my grandma to teach me how to cut window grilles. Grandma said: "There are several ways to cut paper. You can choose different methods according to different animals. You can cut from the head, from the tail, or from the body..." After that, she taught me origami. I followed my grandmother's example and folded a piece of red paper a few times. When I started cutting, I either cut crookedly or cut the paper, and either didn't bend it enough or bent it too much. The birds I cut out were either missing legs or wings. After finally cutting off a small bird, when I opened it, I found that it didn’t look like a bird or a chicken. But I am still very happy, after all, it is my "masterpiece".

Many folk arts are gradually disappearing. I must continue to inherit and promote folk art and must not ignore it. My grandma promised me that she would teach me how to cut window grilles when I have time. Like my grandma, I also want to inherit the folk art of flower cutting to celebrate the festival, decorate my life, and add fun.
