What's the difference between a guide wall and a hurdle?

Different functions and different construction methods.

Different functions: the guide wall is a continuous reinforced concrete structure which is preset at the basement level during the construction of the main structure. The main function is to bear the load of the basement floor, prevent groundwater leakage and support the basement exterior wall. Anti-dam, also known as flood dam, is a kind of waterproof treatment in architecture, which generally refers to the waterproof dam at the intersection of the ground and wall of kitchen and bathroom. The main function is to prevent water from flowing outside.

Different construction methods: the guide wall is generally constructed before the basement floor construction. Firstly, a plain concrete cushion layer is poured on the ground, then the guide wall reinforcement is bound on the cushion layer, and finally the formwork is supported and concrete is poured. After the concrete reaches a certain strength, the formwork can be removed. Anti-ridge construction is carried out after the completion of ground and wall construction. First, use cement mortar or waterproof coating to make a slope at the junction of the ground and the wall, then lay waterproof coiled material on the slope, and finally pour a layer of plain concrete on the waterproof coiled material.
