What are the classifications of automobile transmissions?

Automobile transmissions are divided into hydraulic automatic transmission (AT), mechanical stepless automatic transmission (CVT), electronically controlled mechanical automatic transmission (AMT) and powershift (DSG).

1, AT is composed of hydraulic torque converter, planetary gear and hydraulic control system, and variable-speed torque is realized through the combination of hydraulic transmission and gear. Among them, the hydraulic torque converter is the most important component, which consists of pump wheel, turbine and guide wheel, and has the functions of transmitting torque and clutch.

2. Compared with AT, CVT saves complicated and bulky gear combination variable speed transmission, but the transmission adopts two sets of pulleys. The speed change is realized by changing the contact radius of the belt between the driving wheel and the driven wheel. Because the gear transmission is cancelled, the transmission ratio can be changed at will, the speed change is more stable, and there will be no sudden gear jump.

3.AMT is a step automatic transmission, just like hydraulic automatic transmission (AT). On the basis of ordinary manual transmission, an electric device controlled by microcomputer is added to replace the manual operation of clutch separation, engagement, transmission selection and gear shifting to realize automatic gear shifting.

4. There are obvious differences between 4.DSG gearbox and traditional automatic gearbox. DSG didn't use hydraulic torque converter from the beginning. This transmission is not produced on the basis of the traditional concept of automatic transmission. The engineers who designed DSG embarked on an innovative new technical road, skillfully combining the flexibility of manual transmission with the convenience of traditional automatic transmission.

Extended data:

Functions of automobile transmission:

(1) Change the transmission ratio, expand the torque and speed range of the driving wheel to adapt to the changing driving conditions, and at the same time make the engine work better (higher power and lower fuel consumption);

(2) unde that condition that the rotation direction of the engine is unchanged, the automobile can run backwards;

(3) Power transmission is interrupted by neutral, so that the engine can be started at idle speed, which is convenient for gear shifting or transmission power output.
