What is the Year of the Tiger
The main Tiger years are: 1902, 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034, 2046 and 2058.
The Chinese zodiac is divided according to the "Lichun" of the Chinese lunar calendar, not the "Spring Festival" (the first day of the Lunar New Year). The so-called solar calendar is also known as the Gregorian calendar.
The formula for calculating the Year of the Tiger
A year in which the year number is divided by 12 and the remainder is 6 is the Year of the Tiger.
The formula is: A.D. year number &pide;12= some quotient, and the remainder is 6.
For example: 2010&pide;12= quotient 167, and the remainder is 6. Then, 2010 is the Year of the Tiger.
The Year of the Tiger is counted from the first spring of the 24 Solar Terms, because the Chinese zodiac year is dependent on the Stem and Branch Calendar, which is the method of the Stem and Branch Calendar. The official calendar (i.e., the yellow calendar) has been like this for generations. It is not disputed that the lunar calendar only borrows the stem and branch for the year, and its year is from the first day of the first month to New Year's Eve.
But the lunar calendar and the calendar of dry branches are two different calendars, and they differ in the starting point of the year, the rules for dividing the months, and the number of days in a year. Because of the use of the Gregorian calendar after the Republic of China, many people, including a few so-called experts, lack of knowledge of the calendar, so the two are often confused.
