What are the molding methods of several common non-metallic materials

There are six main molding methods for plastics: injection molding, extrusion molding, compression molding, blow molding, casting, and gas-assisted injection molding.

Injection molding, also known as plastic injection molding, is the use of injection machines to melt plastic quickly into the mold, and curing to get a variety of plastic products. Injection molding accounted for about 30% of the production of plastic parts, the advantage is that it can be formed once the shape of complex pieces, size and precision, high productivity, the disadvantage is that the equipment and mold costs are higher, mainly for the production of large quantities of plastic parts.

Extrusion molding is the use of screw rotary pressure, continuous plasticization of plastic extrusion into the mold, through a certain shape of the mouth mold, and the shape of the mouth mold to get the shape of the plastic profile of the process.

Press molding is mainly used for thermosetting plastics, such as phenolic, epoxy, silicone, etc.; can also be used for pressing thermoplastic plastic PTFE products and PVC records.

Blow molding is a hollow plastic blank with the help of compressed air blowing deformation, and after cooling and shaping of the plastic parts of the processing method.

Plastic casting molding will be in the flow state of polymer materials or monomer materials injected into a specific mold, under certain conditions so that the reaction, curing, and molding and mold cavity consistent with the plastic parts. This forming method is simple equipment, no or slightly pressurized, low strength requirements for molds, production investment, can be applied to a variety of sizes of thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic parts. However, the precision of the plastic parts is low, the productivity is low, and the molding cycle is long.

Gas-assisted process includes the following four stages: the first stage: plastic injection, the second stage: gas injection, the third stage: gas injection, the fourth stage: gas pressure.

Rubber molding. The production process of rubber products mainly includes three processes: plasticizing, mixing and molding. Plasticizing is to make the elastic raw rubber into a plastic state of the processing technology process, so as to increase its plasticity, to obtain the appropriate fluidity, in order to meet the mixing and molding process requirements. Mixing is a variety of matching agents (vulcanizing agent, antioxidant, filler, etc.) mixed into the raw rubber, made of uniform mixed rubber process. And the rubber molding process mainly has three kinds of calendering molding, pressing out molding, injection molding.

Composite molding. Polymer-based composites and metal-based composites are mainly introduced here.

Metal matrix composites are prepared by three main processes: solid state method, liquid state method and spray deposition method. Polymer matrix composites, however, have six main preparation methods, including prepreg and premix molding, hand-glue molding, bag-press molding, winding molding, pultrusion molding, and molding.
