During the Spring and Autumn Period, Confucius' view of justice and benefit mainly stood on the position of the declining slave class and thought about how to reconcile its contradiction with the emerging landlord class. By the middle of the Warring States period, after the great turmoil in the late Spring and Autumn Period and the early Warring States period, the old social order and moral norms were completely destroyed, and the emerging landlord class gradually grew up and mastered the real power. However, the decadent slave class has not yet withdrawn from the historical stage. Mencius' view of justice and benefit is to think about how to strengthen rule through moral norms from the perspective of the former. At the end of the Warring States period when Xunzi lived, the emerging feudal landlord class had defeated the slave owner class, and the feudal system was gradually formed.
