Wang Zhiying was born in 1916 on the tenth day of the fourth month of the summer calendar in 1916, a native of Liujia Plateau Village, Mubao Township, Huan County. Although she could not read a word, she had a unique artistic genius for paper-cutting. Her paper-cutting was famous in Longyuan, and her art was famous all over the country. Wang Zhiying's adolescence was spent in a very turbulent times. As a native of generations living in the Loess Plateau peasant women, working at sunrise and sunset, giving birth to children, why can become a paper cutter, rely entirely on the talent and the results of the reverence for the beauty of life. Since she was young, she was full of passion for life, in her eyes, everything in nature is beautiful. So, she started from loving flowers, animals and birds, and then planted flowers, raised flowers, cats, dogs and so on. Then, she consciously recognized the world with a purely natural concept, and used scissors to "simulate" the natural form, deforming and decorating as she wished to express everything she wanted to express. Her obsessive pursuit of paper-cutting has long been regarded by the masses as a master of paper-cutting and a teacher of paper-cutting whom women admire.

Paper-cutting road

Wang Zhiying in a long period of hard work, ushered in the traditional cultural concepts of the Chinese nation's theme of sublimation and expression of the means of sublimation of purity. In the 1950s, the middle-aged Wang Zhiying, its paper-cutting works attracted the attention of the local and county culture and art circles. Fame is getting bigger and bigger. Wang Zhiying, however, is still a peasant woman's simplicity and goodness, only know how to take time out of their busy schedules, the adult shears, shears! So, her home yard outside, everywhere is blooming paper-cut flowers. The wide range of subjects, the number of large, I'm afraid that even Wang Zhiying is difficult to say a general. The gifted Wang Zhiying was also an expert in drawing patterns and embroidery. In her later years, she still wielded her scissors obsessively. Many folk art enthusiasts, collectors, researchers to visit more and more people, the fame of her art.

Paper-cutting themes

Wang Zhiying's paper-cutting works cover a wide range of themes, including almost everything she is familiar with. These include those reflecting the concept of primitive human worship; traditional expressions of good fortune and luck; folklore mentality; and especially those reflecting real life and revolutionary themes. Among these rich subjects, the last category is the main body of her works, which is also Wang Zhiying's greatest achievement in art creation. Life is the source of art. While the illiterate Wang Zhiying, who surrounded herself with pots and pans, and her rich paper-cutting works fully proved this point, Wang Zhiying's artistic talent and spirituality were not excluded either. Long-term practice and observation, she can make the complex life "cut" refined and natural. Published by Liaoning Fine Arts Publishing House, "Longdong Folk Paper Cutting" contains Wang Zhiying's works, such as "Returning to the Mother's Home" and "Sending the Son to Join the Army", which are most representative of her work. Mr. Jin Zhilin, a famous folk art researcher, said in the book's foreword, Wang Zhiying "arbitrary deformation of the decorative expression of their own want to show everything". He also said that the Loess Plateau gullies and ravines, long mountains, creating Wang Zhiying in the art of paper-cutting "ancient simplicity, primitive and rugged. Ancient folklore is also extremely deep". Or these two works, plus the same book contained in the "horse pack silver", "dolls picking peaches", in the characters, the structure of the donkey and artistic treatment, Wang Zhiying did a realistic artist dare not do. She said, "The walking donkey has only three legs on the ground. So, the one that doesn't touch the ground is omitted "at will". So the walking donkey in all three paintings has three legs. Because it is too consistent with the philosophical concept of the movement of a four-legged animal, it strengthens the sense of movement on the basis of the physical concept of triangular stability. Therefore, the reader can visually feel the presence of the other leg that has been omitted. Doll picking peaches, a folding cut, up the tree doll only one leg on the branch, the other leg hanging in the air, an arm, but the side of a branch of the trunk, instability in the stability of the performance of the vivid and obvious. Without profound life practice (observation) and superhuman artistic thinking, how can one reach such a state? A chicken, a bird, a dog, a pig, even a wolf and a snake are all beautiful and lovable under Wang Zhiying's scissors. What does Wang Zhiying rely on? By virtue of her artistic talent and superhuman artistic observation and pure artistic expression.
