What pigment is good for Chinese painting?

Traditional Chinese painting pigments are divided into natural pigments and processed pigments. Natural pigments are more natural, more stable and not easy to fade in color presentation. The disadvantage is that it is difficult to extract and inconvenient to store. Therefore, chemical pigments or inks are commonly used in painting, and painters can use them at any time, which is convenient and quick, but the disadvantage is that it is not easy to preserve for a long time.

Plant pigment: Plant pigment should be extracted from nature. For example, if you want to use green pigment, you should extract it from green plants. If you want red, you should extract it from red plants ... The color extracted from plants is relatively pure and stable, and it has a strong sense of attachment to drawing paper, so it is not easy to fade even if the picture is stored for a long time.

Mineral pigments: Mineral pigments are also extracted from nature, mostly cinnabar, a common ore. For example, the color extracted from cinnabar can be regarded as cinnabar pigment, and the pigment named after it is extracted from ochre. These natural mineral pigments have good color saturation and high purity because they have not been processed, but they are not easy to preserve and are rarely used in daily life.

Chemical pigments: Because natural pigments are inconvenient to preserve and the extraction procedure is complicated, chemical pigments are available. After artificial synthesis, it is easy to mix with water, with fine particles and good water solubility. Because chemical products such as gelatin are added, it can be stored in blocks or tubes. It is solid without water, but it becomes liquid after water is added. The disadvantage is that paintings can't be preserved for a long time and fade easily.

Ink painting: Chinese painting was originally black and white ink painting, and then it gradually became popular, so ink painting can also be said to be a black pigment. In traditional painting in China, ink is often used in ink painting. Choosing the right ink depends on the color. It would be better if it was purple or black.
