What do S, I and R mean in the drug sensitivity test report?

S (sensitivity) means that bacteria are sensitive to antimicrobial agents, and the average blood drug concentration is more than MIC5 times when using conventional doses, which is usually effective.

I (intermediate) means that bacteria are moderately sensitive to antibacterial drugs, and the average blood drug concentration is equal to or slightly higher than MIC at regular dose, so it is necessary to use high dose or it may be effective for infection at drug concentration sites in the body;

R (drug resistance) refers to the drug resistance of bacteria to an antibacterial drug. When the conventional dose is used, the MIC of the drug to bacteria is higher than the blood concentration, and the treatment with the conventional dose is usually ineffective.
