Liye Village was called Changle District before the Qing Dynasty, Shishan Township in the Republic of China, renamed Liye Township after the liberation, and withdrawn from the township in 1992. Now Liye Village has a population of about 1,500 people, all of whom are surnamed Ye, the village has the Liye Ancestral Hall built in the late Ming Dynasty and the Ye Hall built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and outside the hall there is a field shaped like a brush, and a pond shaped like an ink stone, which the villagers call in the "pen mound" and the "ink stone pond", and there is also a field shaped like a brush, a pond shaped like an ink stone in the village. Nowadays, every family in Liye Village grows lotus flowers as a pillar of local economic development, forming a spectacular "Ten Mile Lotus" landscape, which makes Liye Village the most famous lotus-viewing spot in Zhejiang Province after the "Qu Yuan Feng Lotus" in Hangzhou's West Lake.

On December 9, 2016, Liye Village was listed in the fourth batch of Chinese traditional villages.

Liye Village in Daci Yan Township has a history of growing lotus seeds for nearly 1,000 years. It has been recorded in poems of the Southern Song Dynasty, and was designated as a tribute during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, making it a renowned lotus township near and far. During the lotus blooming season, when you step into Liye Village, you will enter the realm of "endless blue lotus leaves in the sky and different red lotus flowers in the sun".
