Is it possible for e-commerce to completely replace traditional commerce?
First of all, we can find out relevant information from the concepts of e-commerce and traditional commerce. The meaning of e-commerce can be divided into narrow sense and broad sense: narrow sense of e-commerce, also known as e-commerce, mainly refers to the use of communication means provided by the Internet to conduct electronic transactions on the Internet. E-commerce in a broad sense: (E-Business) refers to all kinds of business activities conducted by using different forms of Internet (Internet, Intranet, Extranet, local area network, wide area network) and the electronization of the whole business activities. Such as market analysis, customer management, commodity management, resource allocation, virtual shopping mall, enterprise decision-making, etc. These commercial activities can be carried out within companies, between companies and between customers, including the participation of the government.
Traditional commerce is a process in which users use telephone, fax, letters and traditional media to realize business transactions and management.
Users can conduct marketing, advertising, obtain marketing information, receive order information, make purchase decisions, pay money, customer service support and so on through traditional means.
This can be drawn from the comparison between the traditional business in reality and the popular online shopping after the 1990s. The differences between traditional commerce and e-commerce are as follows:
(1) Payment methods are different. Traditional business activities are generally paid by cheque and cash, and cheques are mostly used in the transaction process of enterprises. In e-commerce, the payment of transaction funds generally takes the form of online payment. The new marketing principles promote enterprise growth, e-commerce marketing, food and beverage marketing, construction real estate marketing and consumer goods marketing.
(2) In traditional commerce, the manufacturer is the business center, while in e-commerce environment, the seller is the business subject.
(3) The commodity circulation mechanism of electronic commerce is different from that of traditional commerce. Commodity circulation under traditional commerce is an indirect circulation mechanism. Most goods produced by manufacturing enterprises have to go through a series of middlemen before reaching the end users. With the emergence of e-commerce, every commodity has established the most direct circulation channel, and manufacturers can directly deliver the goods to users, and also get the most valuable demand information from users, so as to realize the unimpeded information exchange.
(4) E-commerce and traditional commerce involve different geographical scope and commodity scope. Traditional business involves limited geographical scope and commodity scope, and with the popularity of the Internet, especially the emergence of various professional websites,
The geographical scope and time involved in e-commerce are infinite and transcend time and space.
Through the above explanation, we can easily see the similarities and differences between traditional commerce and e-commerce, and we can also understand the six advantages of e-commerce:
1, transaction virtualization;
2. Low transaction cost;
3. High transaction efficiency;
4. The benefits that enterprises can get from developing e-commerce;
5. Be able to expand the market opportunities of enterprises;
6. Shorten the production cycle of enterprises.
However, compared with traditional commerce, e-commerce has many advantages, but it also has many disadvantages.
First of all, e-commerce has a very important issue-integrity. For self-protection, customers are afraid to buy goods online, especially high-priced goods.
Second, through e-commerce transactions, customers can't directly contact the goods. There are many commodities (such as clothing, jewelry, antiques, etc.). ) so that customers can't determine whether to buy without direct contact.
Third, customers can't receive the purchased goods immediately after placing an order online. Customers need to spend a few days waiting for the goods ordered online.
Fourth, payment security. So far, this problem has not been well solved. Fifth, e-commerce is a new thing, which many people are not familiar with and do not accept. It is unrealistic to expect it to replace traditional commerce with thousands of years of history in a few years. The development path of new things is always tortuous.
To sum up, the above disadvantages of e-commerce are the advantages of traditional commerce, and they are interdependent and complementary. Therefore, e-commerce cannot replace traditional commerce in the short term.
