What are the eight Tibetan operas?
According to the China National Cultural Resources Network, the eight Tibetan operas are famous traditional operas in Tibet. These eight repertoires are: Langsawen mussel (also known as girl Langsawen), Princess Wencheng, Sujinima, Zhuowasam, Dunyuedunzhu (also known as Yuedunzhu, meaning Dunyuedunzhu brothers), Baiba and Zhideng. The eight Tibetan operas have a long history and far-reaching influence. The story of twists and turns, suppression of evil and promotion of good, high-pitched euphemistic and beautiful music singing, extensive and cheerful national songs and dances, and colorful characters' faces make it well-known among Tibetan people, well-known and widely circulated, which also marks the comprehensive maturity of Tibetan opera art development.
