After 2 pm is best.

First of all, we must understand the habits of snakehead. Take southeast Henan as an example. Every year, snakehead begins to move at the beginning of March in the solar calendar, and March to April 20th is a good time to catch snakehead. From April 20th to May, 15 is the peak time for snakehead to mate, which can be said to be the most difficult time for fishing. Snakehead has the habit of picking nests. Before June, it can be said that it has a mouth all day, except mating.

When do snakeheads usually prey?

1, predation time of snakehead

Generally speaking, snakehead will hunt around 9 am and 4 pm, or start hunting at 6-7 pm.

2. The predatory habit of snakehead.

(1) snakehead swims slowly. They usually don't chase their prey when hunting, but hide near aquatic plants or other hidden objects, and then pay attention to the movement around them. Once they find fish or other delicious live bait swimming nearby, they will quickly attack and catch them in one fell swoop. Snakehead can generally swallow live bait about half a body length, and the maximum capacity of stomach can reach about 60% of body weight.

(2) The food intake of snakehead is related to the water temperature. When the water temperature is high in summer, snakehead is very greedy, so it eats a lot. When the water temperature is lower than 12℃, snakehead generally stops eating. Under artificial feeding conditions, if animal feed is insufficient, snakehead can be fed with artificial compound feed such as bean cake, vegetable cake and fish meal.
