What is the history of the Singapore Museum of History?
In the early days, museums mainly collected, displayed and studied anthropology, natural archaeology, animals and plants. By 1972, the museum had removed all natural science collections, and the focus of the exhibition shifted from the original natural science to social science, founding history and art exhibitions. After the opening of 1976 gallery, it became an important place for local artists to hold exhibitions. The natural science collection is kept by the Singapore Science Museum and the National University of Singapore.
By 1993, the National Museum was under the jurisdiction of National Cultural Heritage Administration, and it was divided into three parts, namely Singapore Art Museum, Asian Civilization Museum and Singapore History Museum.
The history museum was restored in two stages. Add an administrative building with an area of 4000 square meters, set up eight permanent exhibition halls, a temporary exhibition hall, a coffee bar and a souvenir shop, set up a covered sunny courtyard between the front and rear buildings, keep a children's exploration paradise, and add classrooms and audio-visual rooms.
The Singapore Museum of History is the oldest museum in Singapore.
