Calligraphy exams are divided into primary (1st, 2nd, 3rd); intermediate (4th, 5th, 6th); and advanced (7th, 8th, 9th).

I, calligraphy examination

Currently, there are three systems of calligraphy level examination, one is sponsored by the Beijing Education Examination Institute of the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Level Examination Calligraphy Examination, one is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Art Development Center of the level of calligraphy examination, and the other is the level of social calligraphy examination, sponsored by the Association of Calligraphers. The former is approved by the education department and the latter is approved by the Ministry of Culture. The following is mainly about the Chinese Calligraphy Level Examination.

The purpose of the calligraphy examination

The purpose of organizing the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Level Examination is to learn and inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture, popularize the art of calligraphy and painting, and to promote the concept of advanced learning through scientific and standardized training and assessment, so as to gradually achieve the first knowledge and awareness of the art of calligraphy and painting and to improve the learners' painting and calligraphy art skills and aesthetic level.

The content of the hard brush calligraphy examination

1, primary: level 1-3

The main assessment of the learners of Chinese characters in the basic skills of hard brush calligraphy. Through the training of writing the Chinese characters in monograms and composite characters, learners will be able to grasp the basic structure of Chinese characters in Regular Script, and achieve an even, proportional, and well-proportioned structure, as well as a balanced and coordinated size of the characters throughout the text. Examination time: 45 minutes.

2. Intermediate: Level 4-6

This course assesses the practical skills of the learner in the hard-copy calligraphy of Chinese characters. On the basis of the Regular Script training, through copying, the gradual transition from the Regular Script to the Running Script, the use of the pen and structural training, mastery of the Running Script, the Regular Script two kinds of practical fonts, to achieve the beautiful shape of the strokes, the structure of the structure is reasonable, the layout of the chapters of the layout of the harmonious, rhythmic sense. Examination time: 60 minutes for Level 4; 90 minutes for Level 5-6.

3. Advanced: Level 7-9

The main test is to assess the learner's level of creativity in the hard-copy calligraphy of Chinese characters. Through the copying of classic calligraphy works of the past dynasties, emphasis is placed on the training of the structure of Chinese characters and the chapter of the work. Students are required to master more than two types of scripts, and to achieve a precise brushwork, natural strokes, a subtle structure, a lawfulness, a harmonious chapter, and a skillful layout. At the same time, they must master the basic knowledge of Chinese characters and calligraphy. Examination time: 150 minutes for grades 7-9.
