Christmas custom
The custom of Christmas:
Custom 1: Decorate the Christmas tree
It is said that the Christmas tree first appeared in the Saturnalia in ancient Rome in the middle of 65438+February. In the 8th century, German missionary Nicholas used vertical trees to worship the infant. Subsequently, the Germans took 65438+February 24th as the festival of Adam and Eve, and placed a "paradise tree" symbolizing the Garden of Eden at home, and hung cookies representing the sacred bread to symbolize atonement; Light the candle symbolizing Christ.
/kloc-religious reform in the 0/6th century. Luther Magong: In order to have a starry Christmas Eve, a Christmas tree with candles was designed and arranged at home. However, there is another unique saying about the origin of the Christmas tree in the west: a kind farmer warmly entertained a wandering child at Christmas. When he left, the child broke off a branch and stuck it in the ground.
The branch immediately grew into a big tree. The child pointed to the tree and told the farmers that every year today, the tree is full of gifts to repay your's kindness. Therefore, the Christmas tree people see today is always full of small gifts.
Custom 2: Light Christmas candles.
This tradition means that people will put a lighted candle outside the house during Christmas. Even in the darkest room, candles can bring light and symbolize hope. In the early years, when Christians were persecuted, they were forbidden to preach and pray. Therefore, Christians put candles outside the house, suggesting that they are still praying silently in their hearts.
Custom 3: Give gifts to relatives and friends?
Legend has it that Santa Claus always comes to Christmas Eve happily in a sleigh pulled by reindeer, climbs into the house from the chimney, leaves gifts for the children and eats the food left by the children. He is busy making gifts and monitoring the children's behavior and recording it at other times of the year.
Nowadays, giving gifts at Christmas is close to becoming a global habit. In many countries, children prepare empty containers so that Santa can put some small gifts, such as toys, candy or fruit. In America, children hang Christmas stockings on the fireplace on Christmas Eve, because Santa Claus said he would come down from the chimney and put presents in Christmas stockings on Christmas Eve. In other countries, children leave their empty shoes outdoors so that Santa can give presents on Christmas Eve (or Saint Nicholas Day 65438+February 5). Giving gifts not only means Santa Claus, but also family and friends give gifts to each other.
Custom 4: Make gingerbread man.
Like many Christmas traditions, Christmas gingerbread has a history of many years. Gingerbread was a part of the winter solstice ceremony in ancient Europe long before Christmas became a commercial festival for all. Humans have celebrated the winter solstice for thousands of years, and food has always been the center of the celebration.
It was not until the story of Queen Elizabeth I later that she had a whim and asked the royal pastry chef to make gingerbread into a guest's appearance, so there was the gingerbread man we see now. There is also a saying in Britain that two lovers were forced to separate because of the war, and when they were old, they worried that the other party could not find themselves, so they made gingerbread man like each other again. Later, there is a legend that unmarried women can meet their ideal partners after eating gingerbread man. Now the tradition of making gingerbread man has become a household name in European and American countries, and it has become a necessary custom every Christmas, which has also spawned various fairy tales and songs related to gingerbread man.
Let warm wishes, happy thoughts and friendly wishes come to you at Christmas and stay with you.
