The kui pattern, a type of traditional decorative pattern, is a decoration on bronzes. Kui is the name of a mythical beast shaped like a dragon. It is said to be a dragon pattern and snail-bodied beast pattern. In Zhuangzi - Qiushui, it says: "Kui pities millipede, millipede pities snake, snake pities wind, wind pities eyes, eyes pities heart."
