Wild Bee Breeding Techniques?
Selection of bee-keeping sites
Chinese honey bees should be kept far away from factories, mines, highways, and other secluded slopes, half-mountain slopes, and the edge of forests, avoiding harassment by people and animals or vibration interference, and there should be sufficient and clean water near the apiary. Chinese honey bees are not very strict on the requirements of bulk nectar, but more requirements on the types of pollen plants, continuous nectar flowering, no too long honey breaks, because the Chinese honey bees are good at utilizing sporadic nectar, the outside world sporadic nectar pollen constantly, to avoid triggering the theft of the bees, easy to manage.
Placement of swarms
Since Chinese honey bees have been domesticated for a short period of time, they are more wild and less oriented, and they are easy to get lost in the hive, therefore, the placement of Chinese honey bees can't be like the placement of western honey bees as rows, neat and close, and the direction is the same. The distance between swarms of Chinese honey bees should be farther, staggered before and after, and the direction of the hive door should not be the same, so as to avoid the bees between the swarms from casting each other wrongly, resulting in mutual fighting and killing. In particular, the distance between swarms should be increased to prevent the queen bee from being killed. Each box should be cushioned with wooden stakes to prevent ants from infesting the Chinese honeybee colonies and causing them to escape.
Preventing odor contact
Chinese honey bees have a sensitive sense of smell, and are very sensitive to odor. It is better to use the hives used by western bees to keep Chinese honey bees. Or choose a new beehive made of odorless wood. Before using a new beehive, coat it with a small amount of beeswax to eliminate the wood odor, which is good for the Chinese bees to accept and prevent them from flying away. No heavy drugs are used to prevent and control bee diseases. After the beehives and bee tools are disinfected, the odor must be completely eliminated before they can be reused, and the beehives are disinfected as much as possible by burning to prevent the odor from stimulating the bees and causing them to escape.
Swarm management
Chinese honey bees have a sensitive sense of smell and a strong tendency to steal, so preventing bee theft is one of the main tasks in managing Chinese honey bees and attention should be paid to it at all times. It is best to play 6-8 small holes in two rows on the hive door gate, with a diameter of 5-5.5mm. during the feeding process, the number of holes will be opened or blocked according to the change of the swarming situation. The box seams are sealed tightly with plastic tape.
The habit of Chinese honey bees of knocking down old spleens is related to their poor resistance to nesting insects (wax borers), and Chinese honey bees should be reared diligently to create new spleens to replace old ones, and in addition to saving a small amount of old spleens to be used in the honey-gathering period, the rest of the old spleens should be eliminated in time for the waxing of wax to prevent wax borer ovipositor from entering the colony, and to heighten the distance between the bottom of the hive box and the lower beams of the hive spleens to a minimum of 40 millimeters of spacing. Or use a live bottom beehive, so as to remove the wax chips on the bottom of the box at any time to prevent the wax borer from laying eggs.
The hive of wild Chinese bees is: the center part is mostly the pupa spleen, outside the pupa spleen is the insect spleen, outside the insect spleen is the ovipositor spleen, outside the ovipositor spleen is the new spleen which has not been built completely. The whole hive is hemispherical with a large range of pollen rings in the upper part of each spleen, and the daughter rings are in the lower part of each spleen. Therefore, there is no need to emphasize too much on spleen adjustment and minimize the number of openings during the breeding period so as not to disturb the normal order of bee colony life.
Increase the number of inspections during the bee-splitting season. In the season of splitting bees, the queen bee may fly out at any time after laying eggs in the rostrum without waiting for the rostrum to be capped. When the swarm is found to be slacking off and other omens of bee splitting, artificial bee splitting is adopted to eliminate them. It is not desirable to destroy the platform several times to maintain a strong swarm before the honey blossoms. In order to increase the amount of honey harvesting, you can merge swarms or mobilize field bees to organize strong swarms for honey harvesting at the early stage of honey flow. In the honey harvesting period, more new spleens can be created.
Wintering management
In order to adapt to the Chinese honey bee's habit of grouping together in the lower part of the hive spleen, the grouping is tight. The layout of the hive for wintering should be as follows: 2-3 spleens in the center with honey in the upper part of the lower part of the empty half-honey spleen or less than half-honey spleen, and one large honey spleen with a small amount of empty space in the lower part of the hive on each side. This is because the bees often knock off a large portion of the lower part of the spleen in order to keep the cluster tight. If all the honey room, bees in the process of knocking spleen will eat a lot of honey, eat too much honey, excessive accumulation of feces, dysentery in the late winter, will cause serious losses.
