"A Generation of Businessmen" focuses on businessmen for the first time, and tells the feud legends of three generations of Liu and Yang, two century-old oil companies in hongjiang city, a commercial town in southwest Hunan. It shows a generation of Shang Hong businessmen's feelings about home and country and their concept of businessmen in the great historical changes, and composes a patriotic and heroic song of children in western Hunan who care about the world, defend their country and sacrifice their lives for justice.

Compared with Huizhou merchants, Shanxi merchants and other business gangs, Shang Hong businessmen who run Hongyou are loyal to their home country, adhering to the purpose of "saving the world with righteousness", forming their own school and creating a precedent for Hunan's business culture. Shang Hong is a typical representative of Hunan merchant culture.

For thousands of years, countless businessmen have come to the banks of Hongjiang to start businesses, which has created the prosperity of Hongjiang, the business legend of "one bag and one umbrella, coming to Hongjiang as the boss", and the "maker spirit" of Shang Hong's hard work and out of thin air.

The principles of openness, inclusiveness and development; Worried about the country and the people, everyone is responsible for the feelings of home and country; The business philosophy of "honesty-based" and "making money at a loss" is a blessing, and it also breeds Shang Hong culture with "righteousness", "benevolence is beautiful" and "innocent heirloom" as its essence. Based on this background and real historical data, the TV series "A Generation of Shang Hong Merchants" shows the business philosophy and feelings of home and country of a generation of Shang Hong businessmen, which can be called a long scroll depicting the development history of Shang Hong businessmen.

In the play, Liu Yunxiang, the shopkeeper of Long Yuan Petroleum Company, and Yang Tongchang, the shopkeeper of Hengshun Petroleum Company, were originally the leading local oil merchants, but they were thrown into the torrent of history by the great changes of the times. Yang Dajiang, the eldest son of the Yang family, engaged in underground activities to raise military expenses for the revolution. Tian Dan, the two daughters of Liu family, fell in love with Yang Dajiang successively. They fought to the death with Japanese spies and traitors, and finally saved Hongjiang and ushered in the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.

The two families in Liu Yang are the epitome of children in western Hunan. Liu Yunxiang and Yang Tongchang of the older generation have not lost their morality after suffering. They went to Wan Li to help the world. Their children fought bloody battles and defended their motherland. They practiced the feeling of "taking the world as their responsibility" with their lives.
