Method of making traditional rhombic kites by hand

Kite is a great invention in ancient China. Children like to play with kites very much. Here, I would like to introduce the handmade methods of traditional diamond kites, hoping to help you!

Methods/steps

1 First of all, be familiar with the structure of kites. You can check the "Tips" section to add special words.

Choose a light-colored newspaper and draw a square on it.

Cut out a square with scissors or a hand knife.

The squares are at right angles, and the bamboo sticks are placed on the vertical diagonal to form the spine of the kite.

Long bamboo sticks are used as spine and short bamboo sticks as beam bones.

4 Place another bamboo stick horizontally as a beam bone, perpendicular to the spine. Put it on the top half of the paper, not on the other diagonal. The beam should bisect the spine vertically.

Fix the intersection of two bamboo poles with rope and tape. It's stronger with all-purpose glue.

Then use a rope to connect the four endpoints of the spine and beam bones, fix them on paper, and cut off the paper outside the bamboo stick. At this time, it should form a diamond.

After the basic outline of the kite is completed, the center and four corners are reinforced with adhesive tapes.

Make a small hole around the intersection of the beam and the spine.

Pass the rope through the four holes and connect it. Don't tie it too tightly. This constitutes the lifting line of the kite.

Install a piece of cloth on the tail of the kite as the tail. Tails can enhance the stability of kites.

10 Connect a long rope to the lifting rope and use it as a flying rope. The tail end of the flying line is wound on the kite shaft.

1 1 It's over!

skill

Bamboo sticks for kite skeletons can be bought in handmade shops.

The bigger the paper, the more stable the kite flies.

Avoid trees when flying kites, so as not to get stuck on branches.

Choose lightweight paper.

The main components of a kite are:

Spine: A vertically placed kite skeleton.

Beam bone: a horizontal kite skeleton.

Skeleton: It is composed of spine and beam bones connected together.

Shelter: Paper, plastic or cloth that forms the surface of a kite.

Lifting thread: the thread tied at the intersection of spine and beam bone.

Flying line: the line that passes through the lifting line and connects the rotating shaft.

Spindle: a shaft held in the hand for winding flying wires.

Tail: A long piece of cloth tied to the tail to balance the kite.
